Sorry but I disagree with this comment and its dozens of likes. The realities of physics and image capture are such that IMO the tiny hardware only produces such great images because of the software.

Agree to disagree. The best photos I take with my phone are RAW photos. They often look better than the heavily-processed photos, especially when taken in good lighting. Processing is most helpful when lighting is lower, and I’m not saying we don’t need post-processing at all, but the way it is now is often a detriment to photo quality, especially forcing HDR effect on photos that don’t benefit from it. If we could manually control HDR and sharpening, I’d probably have a more positive opinion of the non-RAW photos taken by the iPhone.

Exactly. A raw photo is pretty unusable unless you apply some post-processing using Photoshop, Lightroom or some other app. A raw photo is never meant to be used as it is and looks pretty awful. You choose the post processing workflow you wish to use rather than the default the phone applies. It sounds like you like a light-touch. That's exactly what we're talking about. Apple post-processing is too heavy.

True. I think it's worth it for greater optical zoom, as that's something iPhones can't do right now that other Android smartphones can, but I don't think there's much point in making the camera module bigger if it's just for greater resolution or sensor size, as that would only bring marginal noticeable benefits, if any.
Sony announced a new stacked sensor that stacks the photodiodes on top of the transistors rather than having them share the space. This could theoretically double the light gathering capability of a sensor without changing the size. That could potentially give you sensor with more light gathering capability than a current 1" sensor. Not to say Apple wouldn't screw it up with software but it's exciting for smartphone photography none-the-less.

I think the iPhone has reached the upper limit on weight so any additions need to be net zero weight wise.
We haven’t even had the 15 yet and people are already “waiting” for the 16. Lol.
I’m skipping all of them till my 13 Pro stops working. Nothing released since that wows me.

Kind of disappointed. Antes a reason to upgrade to a new shape. The iPhone 13 PM gets another pass. Might try a galaxy fold whilst I wait.

The problem for me though, is I hear Samsungs version of apple care is a nightmare. Here in Australia, there’s apple stores everywhere and generally I get looked after really well, minimal questions.

I have a galaxy flip 3, love it as a spare phone and something different to use, but the screen protector is bubbling and I’ve heard people being without their phones while Samsung decides if they should honour the change.. really makes me question getting a fold 5 for that reason alone.

Well iPhone 15 pro really has no change, same sensors, very little bit faster cpu, new metal case that’s all. Kind of look like 16 pro can have big change like this article saying.

Samsung “self care” lol xd

Going to 1/1.14, hopefully they increase the resolution to 64MP and output 16MP images. It's certainly big enough to take full advantage of the extra resolution at that point, and unlike when they were still using the 1/3" sensor on the iPhone X, the 12MP resolution is actually a bit of a bottleneck to photo quality now.

Yeah they have done that now to increase to default 24mp so you must buy bigger iPhone storage and bigger iCloud lol xd APPL$$$

FWIW bought a screen protector from Amazon arguably as good or better than factory and away we go.
