Why are there so many iPhone 16 rumor threads already when 15 isn't even out yet? Why stop there? Where are the rumors for 17, 18....?
The so called influencers are trying to affect the sales of the 15, I wonder what's in it for them?

Is anyone in a similar situation to me? Have a 13 Pro and will probably wait another year, maybe even 2, due to lack of innovation?

I used to love upgrading every 2 years but now it just seems pointless.
My 13pro will be staying with me for another 2 years at least, probably 3....unless they fix the over exposure and flares in night time photography. Then again my expectations of a phone are perhaps more realistic than a lot of people, I don't expect it to be a lap top or a dedicated camera 😊

I’ve usually upgraded every year, but I skipped the iPhone Pro Max this year. I’ve been super excited at getting the 15 Pro Max this year for the periscope camera, but I’m less excited about it as things are removed from it such as the electronic Taptic buttons. Hearing about the iPhone 16 rumors of larger screen sizes, I’m inclined to wait for an even better battery, better water proofing. The thing is my current iPhone 13 Pro Max is doing everything I want for the time being with 95% battery health, it will easily last another 16 months. I’ll have more money to spend on some OLED iPad Pros! 😉

This is exactly why I think polling opinions by Apple from as many people as possible would be a good idea. Can be a simple questionnaire, asking people to mark their priorities in their ideal iPhone:

1) Best possible camera;
2) Best possible battery life;
3) Ideal screen size;
4) Ideal weight, etc.

To make it even simpler, they could just ask people about possible advances to their current iPhone along the same lines - which aspects need improving or fixing.

They do not even need to read them all individually, one by one, the machines will do the job, telling Apple: people really want a 12 hrs SOT, bigger or smaller screens, etc.

Would be good, would not it? And everybody will have their say.

As for a DSLR camera quality lens, how are you realistically expecting Apple to fit it into a phone body? I mean this is why DSLR cameras still exist. Imagine a sound engineer wanting a high-end sound-card or amp in a phone. 🤷🏻‍♂️
We don’t think that’s possible right now, and it might not ever catch up to the concurrent quality lenses of a full size camera, but that’s exactly what I mean. There should be no end to the advancement possibilities of cameras, until they meet that nearly impossible quality.

Sure, if you have a larger enclosure, you will always be able to have a better quality image, so they will never be at parity at the same time, but, the images right now still have a far way to go.

You could say the same thing about the speed and efficiency of the chips. Folks say they don’t need any more speed or efficiency, and then applications or uses, come out that utilize all that extra speed. There are always advancements to be made to say that we should just except the quality we have now Would be silly

Seems like we are hearing more about the 16 than the 15. Interesting…
Because they can talk about it much longer and they have much more time until it's all proven to be false. They don't even know how 15 will look for sure and they're trying to guess what will 16 look like, which imo even Cook doesn't know yet.

Most customers probably prioritize a big screen and the best cameras, but I hope the regular iPhones retain regular sizes.

they should always maintain an budget $300 iphone that has whatever 3 generation's ago chip was. at this point, anything released in the last 4-5 years is a very powerful device capable of quite a bit.

Yep. Me too. I don't know why they took that away other than it's clear that Apple wants their "smart" features to do the thinking for you, to take the photos that it thinks look best, but that's not always what I think looks best. Some of the HDR photos I take look ridiculous; the HDR effect exaggerates the shadows and highlights so much that turning "View Full HDR" off in the macOS app makes the photos look much better. At this point I mostly shoot in RAW when I really care about the image quality (and the fact that RAW photos look great shows that the camera hardware is plenty capable without all that over-processing), but there's no way to permanently switch RAW on, you have to turn it on manually each time you launch the camera app. :(
I wish they would bring it back. I upgraded from XS to 13PM & could tell on the very first picture I took, which was of my dog. She’s a light brown color & the camera gives her a dark brown tone

Makes me wonder if I should wait for the 16. I was going to get the 15 Pro Max seeing as how I am still rocking the 11 Pro Max.

Well I think there is something VERY important for the iPhone 15/16 and onward EVERY iPhone user in the USA, and potentially abroad should be interested in!

Critically - in the USA the iPhone 14 Pro series having no nano-SIM was THE worst mistake Apple has ever done!!

This is more of a restriction that anything else almost binding you to higher carrier fees when travelling! No more simply forwarding your line (for non iPhone calls and sms authentication codes) and using a local country pay go SIM card at super cheap prices.

For me I’m going to be VERY wary of upgrading of Apple is stupid enough to expand this forcing of eSIM only going forward.

Seems like @4odomi disagrees but without comment. I ask you … do you have metrics of all USA providers’ roaming agreements abroad with rates that actually beat Pay-AsU-Go SIM cards for local calling and data rates when travelling to say:

UK,
Italy,
Spain,
Columbia,
Costa Rica,
Brazil, Germany,
Etc?!

I’ll wait ;)

I hear you. Apple, being one of the most successful companies in the world, with close to a billion customers, many repeat, clearly has a problem. Certainly no other company would want that problem.
Tell me you own Apple stock without telling me you own Apple stock 😂

The Pill is just a different iteration of the notch, still instantly recognisable, although personally I prefer the notch, which is why I haven't upgraded to the 14 pro, I shall just wait for it to come back, when people get fed up with smudged selfies 😊
The notch, I agree is preferable. It would have been really neat to keep the notch and make it act like the island does now.

I’m actually missing the notch on this 14pro ☹️

Sounds like a great reason to hold onto the iPhone 14… The vast majority of Americans never travel outside the country (to our detriment), so I personally wouldn’t call it the absolute worst mistake Apple has ever made. 🤷

Cool, but I hope the image processing software doesn't ruin the pictures taken by the increasingly-impressive hardware. The hardware doesn't mean much if the software simply overrides anything the hardware captures.
Sorry but I disagree with this comment and its dozens of likes. The realities of physics and image capture are such that IMO the tiny hardware only produces such great images because of the software.

This has always baffled me as Apple has the money and the talent, don’t they hire the best of the best? Who is doing this to our photos? Why? Apple can afford to bring in the best minds in the camera industry from around the world, yet we keep getting these weird over edited pictures forced into us. A several year old dirt cheap android phone shouldn’t take better pictures than a brand new iPhone 14 pro and I hope not better than a 15 pro!

Maybe it’s time they partner up with someone and just farm it all out to them and Apple can focus on other stuff??
Sorry but I am a photog, and IMO the camera capability is excellent. Folks "getting these weird over edited pictures" are just being lazy, exspecially when light is less than ideal.

All these iPhone 16 reports. Is anyone that excited for the 15 now? It's like it's dead in the water! Apple should really just do really huge iPhone upgrades every 2 years. They should skip the 15.
No, tech evolves constantly. It is a good thing to have constant incremental upgrades; just buy in whenever you like. Or wait.

Allegedly it will have new Exmor T double layer sensor found in new Xperia 1 V but bigger at about 1.5

I don’t know what that means, when people say the iPhone takes “amazing” or “excellent” photos I wonder what planet they are on. Compared to virtually any dedicated camera cell phones cameras aren’t even close. For years we’ve seen so many people on this website and elsewhere complain about the heavy handed post processing the iPhone does to pictures. Not sure how something that cannot be turned off, is just because everyone is “lazy”?

Lowlight situations is when the iPhone is at its worst as well, I’ve tested my last couple of iPhones up against an older midrange Samsung phone and the results aren’t pretty. The Samsung blows the iPhone away in every metric, the iPhone pictures have poor image quality and they look like they have jaundice.

This isn’t to say the iPhone takes terrible pics, for what it is they are pretty good in the daytime, and have definitely improved in lowlight the past few years. It’s just not the best smartphone camera, and me and I think most people would agree that Apple could do a lot better. For the price of an iPhone pro, and Apples money and talent they should be #1 and it’s strange that they aren’t.

I’ve taken shots on my Samsung on a tripod that would fool most people into thinking they were done with a DSLR, or a SLR. I can stand on the side of the road and get handheld long exposures with the Samsung with perfect light trails from passing cars. The iPhone overexposes the same scenes, makes everything look urine tinged, and somehow manages to erase light trails.

I really hope the 15 pro and pro max finally make a huge leap and surpass all other phones out there, I want Apple to have the best.

When I think of amazing or excellent photos the last thing I think of is something from a smartphone, some of the medium format cameras definitely!
