I've gamed and watched video fairly extensively on the 16" MBP and it seems fine to me. By which I mean, totally usable and not noticeably different than any other Mac I've used. As I've said elsewhere I'm pretty convinced that all of these machine are essentially the same and it's only the viewer's sensitivity that changes. The thing that bothers me about this whole "issue" is that I've heard people saying that they will be reconsidering a purchase of the 16" because they heard that it had these problems, or are even considering getting a 15" instead, which seems crazy considering the other issues they have. And then you have the people doing things like the UFO test to try and find "good" screens, or to try and tell if their own machine has the problem. If you can't tell without doing a test, it's not a problem.

Obviously, if you find the screen on the 16" to be terrible, then you should either not buy it or return the one you have, but I really feel that the people who feel this way are a small minority.

All the heartburn over people looking for good screens isn't necessary. If the screen is good for you and most people, great. If others, even if only a few, are bothered by smearing and want to see if there are better ones, what's wrong with that?

The main reason people are doing the UFO test is to find out if some are better or worse, not to find out if it bothers them.

I have a 16" Macbook Pro with a manufacture date of 10-14-2019. I do not have any problems with "ghosting" on my screen. I regularly play video games on this Macbook Pro. I watch videos on it. I cannot see a problem with my display. I use a 144Hz 1440p Acer Predator GSync monitor for gaming too, so yea. And no, I'm saying I don't notice any ghosting on my laptop's screen. I don't attach this laptop to an external monitor.

Some people just have obsessive compulsive disorder and will tear their hair out over the most absurd things. Making problems were none exist does not help at all when it comes to Apple designing future products. Can't we just act sane? I know we paid a lot for these computers, but what are you gonna do? Walmart sells laptops for $300. Go get one of those and stop fussing over the most frivolous & fictional issues. Clearly the issue is not the computer in itself, but you are expecting perfection where none will ever exist.

The expertise about OCD here at PsychRumors is impressive. Now shall we diagnose the narcissists who think all normal people are like them?

Haha jesus, the way some of you people reply like you're psychology majors over us discussing displays with high pixel response times. Talk about deflecting my god.

We want people to do the UFO test because we want data about whether this is how the display is supposed to be or if some of us have dud screens. Is it that hard to understand? You people coming in here saying yours is perfect and we're all compulsive are not helping us collect that data, you don't know the kinds of screens we have, only the ones you have so to base your opinions on us based on only your machine is crazy.

It's like if we're in a car forum and we make a thread, hey my car has this clunk sound every time I hit 30 MPH do you guys have ones that do that too? and several people trapse in, oh you have OCD, my car makes no sounds, you're just hearing things. Like lmao jesus.

Huh, looks like reasoning and facts aren't going to help here.

I take it you're new to these forums and so are unaware that many, many MBP owners play games on their MBPs, and many of them would like less ghosting for that reason. If you look at thread titles and read a few threads maybe you'll learn something, if you're able. It matters for movies too, of course, though generally not as much.

Lol, ok.

proceed.

the truth is that Mercury was in retrograde when your 16” MBPs were manufactured. And that’s why they don’t function properly. I’m sorry. Please raise your chakra level to dispel the negative energy permeating your device. It might fix the issue you’re having.

I compared it to my 17" 2009 MBP, 15" 2014 MBP and 13" 2016 MBP and still don't see a notable difference in terms of this issue.
This is great to hear! I'm debating the upgrade from my late 2013 15" MBP since the screen isn't really bright enough to use during daytime close to (physical) windows.

Meh, it’s easier to let you return the device or report to Apple.

the screen is what it is. No point in playing panel lottery just return it and get a new computer. I’m probably gonna return mine and get a Mac mini with i7 for unrelated issues (the software issues are much more serious to me because I have no idea if Apple will fix them).

Because you're claiming you have a system where you don't see ghosting. We would like to determine if that's just because you're not sensitive to it or if you truly have a screen that doesn't have this "issue".

If it's the case your display doesn't have the problem some people here may return their machines to get new ones to try and get unaffected displays. I mean this isn't hard to grasp right? - You have one, you say it's great. That's lovely for you, doesn't really help those of us that have bad ones though does it, real data would help though.
There you go my friend, it seems like some people here are just hating cartoon ufos, I'm not one of them because these little ufo guys help us find out what went wrong with our expensive beloved Apple product, and actions speak louder than words.
