I used the Console trick to check indexing progress on my 17PM about 48 hours ago. It said 95%, which is exactly what it said just now when I checked it again. I've been trying to keep it plugged in when around the house (much more than just at night) but it doesn't seem to be moving forward. Maybe tomorrow morning will bring a surprise...

They should definitely either completely remove the message or display progress with a message saying it could take a week or two, depending on storage size. I see this becoming a huge complaint with regular users since it's already big with beta testers

I used the console method. Last night was 77% and after a full night on the charger still at 77%. I did a force restart and will check again later. If it still hasn't moved, then I'll put it in the Feedback app. That said, the phone is running perfectly well so I'm not really sure of the value in showing the indexing message to millions of people in the production version.

Indexing took about 1 week for me to complete. I left it charging half the day several days at work, as charging and not in use, used to be a way to make background processes(ie. photo indexing/on-device classification) work faster.

PipelineCompleteness: 90%

After a week and change on iOS 27.

iPhone 15 pro.
Still at 90% the next day.

The phone was warm-ish to the touch when I took it off the Magsafe this morning, so it's obviously doing _something_ 🙂

Edit: Also interesting to watch Console, and just search for "spotlight indexing" (omitting the "progress"), it is doing stuff all the time, occasionally ticking off things as Done.

Perhaps use the feedback app to report that if you don’t like it?

Why is that an issue? Many are on over a week and still indexing.
The issue is that it’s been stuck at 45% for a couple of days now, even with MagSafe charging overnight and plugged in at my desk during the day. I wish there was a way to troubleshoot this but Apple doesn’t give much.

I'm stuck at 91% for at least 12 hours at this point. I'm wondering if there is some server-side processing and Apple has put it on hold? It's weird so many people are stuck at a certain percentage relatively close to 100% for the last few days. I don't even have 120Gb worth of data.

My assumption is that it’s not updating that percentage in real time, and instead it only updates when large chunks of data are complete. The other day I went from 44% to 95% overnight. I think that’s probably also why they don’t display a progress bar or percentage in the settings app because it would only cause confusion.

Today's update. My indexing message is gone so I am assuming it is done. I tried the method of connecting it to my MacBook yesterday but it didn't show anything so I thought it was just a stuck message. All good now.

Now if I can get my Apple Watch Ultra 2 to not lock during the night, I would be real happy.

does a second device take less time? like does the index get synced to icloud and down to the other device? You’d expect if you’re deep in the apple ecosystem perhaps with three devices, you’d hope for some efficiencies
