Yea, must be calling them as Outsourced Vendors, a perfect synonym.

The world's economic and trade activities have long become zero sum game favouring the oppressors. Exploitation is the key but suger coat that with fancy terminologies to legitimise and buy the media to showcase as champion of the social cause.

Besides there are too many in the payrolls of CCP in India including the foreigner headed GOP. They are only interested in stopping everything in favour of China with indiscriminate agitations. Apple will find democratic setup suiting their business needs.
So you are saying, Apple, wants to build a plant in India, create jobs, pay taxes and have some benefit to a country that could use the infusion and you are labeling them "the oppressor"? And furthermore you believe this is a social cause?

hmmm...there is a cause and effect issue, the reason the GDP is low is because salaries are low. ”Western” goods are not cheaper in low GDP countries; being paid a pittance is still being paid a pittance even it might be competitive.
So someone in India expects to be paid the same wage as in the US? lol.

Apple is doing all these so that they get tax break and business inside the country otherwise they have to fork out tarrif...

In this particular instance since Apple is probably insourcing to meet its domestic needs, it can't be termed as oppresson but I was talking about cheap outsourcing.

better move the manufacturing plant to SE Asia like Vietnam or Thailand
The countries left where there are no employment rights, employee welfare protection, employee pension provision (ripe for exploitation and cheap labour) are dwindling.

why not, what’s so ridiculous about that? What makes someone living in the US more entitled to higher pay for doing the same work?

We found the career employee that's never run a busniness.
So should there also be pay equality between Podunk, Ia and SF, CA. How far to take this?
I want to earn as much a Jeff Bezos. Its only fair.

haha...oh how you're so wrong, I ran a multi-national business for 20 years, and run my own business now..maybe when you have left school you might amount to a career employee.

oh, and for the record, most people would like to earn as much as Jeff Bezos, but most are content to earn something fare and similar to their peers for doing the same amount of work and putting the same amount of effort in.

Why not answer the question rather than making silly comments?

What's being underscored is pay parity across geographic and/or international borders. Something of a pipe dream, for the most part.

Sure bro, sure. lol.

Not talking about payment. The risk I meant was the extreme reaction from the workers when there are issues. Google Suzuki Maruti riot.
Indians are more vocal compared to workers in countries like Vietnam and Indonesia in general.
So are you saying Indian workers are quick to react to a problem with rioting? Or is this reaction actually due to continued failure of management to address and correct the issues? Are Indian bosses more likely to ignore issues than Vietnamese or Indonesians? Or perhaps Vietnamese and Indonesians are suppressed with more sinister threats? I don't know, I'm just asking the questions.

You’re probably right, but if you supposedly aspire that all employers (and your suppliers, wherever they are) are to provide reasonable, competitive welfare, work conditions, support and pay etc, like Apple claim they do, then ultimately this should be the culmination. After all, Apple say they only use these countries because there simply isn’t enough skilled Labour in the US (or in the west in general) to do the work. That they also pay a pittance is just unfortunate outcome of that problem.

I already said it, Indians are more vocal. This is not necessarily a negative like you are implying. It's just what it is. We don't know the real reason behind this particular event so I won't comment further.

Industries minister Jagadish Shettar attributed the violence to miscommunications between the three parties: Wistron, the labor contractors, and the employees. “What we hear is that the company had made payments to the labour contractors, who delayed payments to the employees. This is being verified.”

So you're saying that instead of calling domestic household staff 'servants' you might as well refer to them as 'outsourced vendors'. It's a bit of a stretch. You are against 'oppressors' but are fine with the term 'servant'. Sounds like cognitive dissonance to me.

What's wrong with the term servant? Dictionary.com: a person employed by another, especially to perform domestic duties.

I neither supported or opposed the term. Yes, the term servant may look out of sync with today's situation. We now a days calling them as maids. One of my household even started giving pension and stopped her from working and do it themselves as she is worked for decades .

Good for you. Perhaps you should read what you are responding to more carefully next time and respond appropriately instead of tangentially.
