How many users here are even remotely familiar with the Indonesian government? It's definitely in the lower half of countries based on corruption. It's just looking for a way to line its pockets, it's not looking out for its workers lmfao.

Good to see that Apple is expanding production outside China. Hopefully with this plan, the ban on Apple devices will be lifted in Indonesia.

I have Indonesian friends who said Apple requested 50 years of no tax with very low investment (under 1%) than Vietnam ($16 billion), which insulted the Indonesian government. That makes sense, 50 years of no tax and low investment looks like Apple is so arrogant as a company in another country.

For that reason, the Indonesian government made it difficult and said Apple had not met the country's rules on use of locally made components. They banned Apple and disabled the IMEI numbers. With disabled the IMEI numbers, no one can use Apple in Indonesia even if they buy it from the black market.

My friend said, their neighbor country (ex. Malaysia) may do the same thing as Indonesian.
After all the news, Apple Proposes $10M Manufacturing Investment. But yeah it's still too low than $16 billion for Vietnam.

Huawei, Samsung, and many tech companies in Asia. Lost 1 company does not make much difference to a country. On the contrary, it will big impact on the company that lost 250 million potential consumers.

Edit:
