I took mine iP4 back because it had dust under the bonnet, in hindsight I wish I never because they have no more stock. I’ve reverted back to my 3GS – I cry myself to sleep every night, longing to clutch my iP4 (with my right hand) once again!

ROFL.... Now iPhones are wearing bonnets? Is that like an English bumper?? :)

I agree with the OP, I would say most of us are adults but a lot of you act very childish. If someone needs help, help them...if you dont want to then don't even post.

I agree, the tone of the MR, in general and the iPhone in particular has been negative. Have a dissenting view point or criticize the iPhone, you're called a fandroid. Posts stating "worst thread" is popping up increasingly.

We all need to respect other people's opinion and view points even if we don't agree with them.

It's a good thing most of you aren't Mods, seriously. The level of bias you're exhibiting towards others right now is exactly what you're professing to be complaining about.

As one Mod has already stated, if you're not interested in participating, move along, nobody is forcing you to read this subforum, nobody is there beside you clackin' out your posts, nobody is there with a hammer hitting your finger on the Submit or Submit Reply button.

Just move along... in time things will return to somewhat-normal for this place, just like it always does after a product launch/release - the hysteria over how cool something could be can also be flipped around and become anger over how defective it could be in pretty much the same measure.

Move along...
How about the mods actually do their job, any one ever think of that? They can go into any given thread and delete posts yet can't dump, lockdown, or merge like posts that noobie after noobie decides to start. Either it's against the rules to make duplicate threads or it's not.... From what I read it is. So if they would simply do the job they were given to do then there would be a lot less "bitchy" posts.
As far as moving on..... How about mods move on if they cant do the job.

You have a point there,

What I don't get is why those with the reception/antenna problem, some of those guys talk some utter crap in regards to those of us who are damn lucky to seemingly not have them.

Its just like the camera yellowing issue, its there on some, on others, not so much.

Exactly...I ordered on June 15th...Received my i4 on June 23rd...Have been loving it ever since....

NO yellow screen problems...
NO reception problems...

and, certainly...

NO reason to lie...

Meanwhile, I get accused of either lying; being in denial; or being a fanboy.
I have no reason to lie. No reason to be in denial. And I am not a fanboy (Even though I have a Macbook, I went back to PC...I just wasn't "feeling" the Mac...Definitely NOT an Apple fanboy, just a consumer pleased with the product he purchased.)

If I had these problems with the i4, I would be the first to complain...but I do not, and am not...

OK...Flame away...

How many of us report offending posts? I see the mods moving, cleaning up threads fairly often but on ones that report or I know someone reported.

Its not like they have a special sensor to know when someone is crapping on a thread. Have you seen how many threads/posts are created here. There's not enough man power to read each post. They rely on us to help the problem and that's done by clicking the the report post icon.

Some of the mods are selective in who they moderate. Some posts which I KNOW were reported, and which are blatant TOS violations, are permitted to stay and are not addressed.

This board will continue to deteriorate, IMHO, if allowed to continue this way...It ceased being a useful forum a few days ago...

I've moderated a few boards in my day.

Let me just say that we have no idea how MANY mods there are. Nor do we know if they work 24/7.

There are thousands upon thousands of posts each day and it would be impossible for even a team of mods working around the clock to read every thread and post on these forums. Which is why they rely on feedback or someone to notify them if there's something out of whack.

To imply that they aren't doing their job, they don't care, they should do this and do that is ignorant to the process, procedure and requirements they adhere to.

In short - unless you're a mod here - you have NO idea as to the work that's involved to keep the site running. THIS site.

What's the point...

...of bashing the mods?

Even I can't keep up with the threads on here, let alone keep up with just ONE thread (the UK iPhone 4 thread).

I noticed a thread the other day that was pointless because there was the 'N' word used in the thread title. Yes the thread may have been in jest, and yes to provoke a response, but I reported it because in my view, there was no justification for using the said word.

The mod's rely on people like us to report, if the mod's did not close that thread - then I would have been extremely disappointed with not only them, but the reputation of this forum in general.

The mods have an extremely difficult job, let's not bash them too.

However, it's up to all of us - to police the forums.

It's always the worst during a new product launch. I've seen it on pretty much every cellphone or tech forum. After a short while it will die down, most people that just signed up won't stick around and will stop posting. It's a cycle and even though I did not buy the 3G or 3GS I stayed on these forums and kept up with the launches and it was the same. It should die down in a month or few, then flare up again next June.

I actually COMPLETELY agree with you.

On a side note, it will die down shortly. Also one of the biggest issues is the antenna issue (or lack thereof). It's such a decisive issue, kinda like religion, politics, sports, etc. Once that issue is resolved it will die down even more.

You made the mistake of engaging in an argument! many users like the sound of their own keys, you wont stop peoples opinions, your much better to read and move on, nice try in trying to restore calm but you are wasting your time there will always be one person who jumps down your line

This might help you. :)

Like others have said, if you see something that you think violates the forum rules, report it to the mods. Don't argue with the offending poster, it only makes matters worse.

Thanks. And given the amount of posts here - as I said - there's no way for that team (bless them for all the work they DO do) can read every thread/post.

Do you really need to report the 15th "My i-4 loses signal when I hold it like this" post on the front page? Really, mods can't see that there is duplicate after duplicate post about the same issue over and over and over again? Please, if they can't then maybe they shouldn't be a mod.

Not trying to hack on the mods but there seems to be a very simple solution to a very irritating problem. Dump all duplicate posts. How many June 2010 folks started a "new" thread related to 1.reception dropping 2. how crappy at&t/apple are 3. how they might return their i-4 ect ect ect?
