I just wish it had a discrete option because it sounds like it would be perfect for me. I have a 11" Air and a 15" rMBP but would love to have something in between with the retina screen. I just like to play WoW or Diablo 3 on occasion and I don't think the Intel 4000 will do it.![]()
That's what I love about it, it's a MacBook Air on steroids....and that's pretty awesome! The more i use this, the more i feels like a exact fit in-between the 13" Air and the 13" pro. It's much better than both also.
That's interesting, it should output a code starting either LP or LSN, which tells you the manufacturer of the screen (LG or Samsung, respectively).
Another user in another thread also reported that it gives no output. I wonder if Apple are trying to prevent people from finding the manufacturer of their screens in an attempt to stop people trying to get a particular one.
Could you try going to System Preferences > Displays > Color > Edit (I think) > mmod (should be at the very bottom of the list) and report the manufacturer code?
It will be interesting to find out if Apple has made any changes to their screen suppliers, and if image retention is still a problem on the 13" models.
Just pulled the trigger...
Now I have to wait... supposed to be delivered Nov 6th...
Went for the i7 and the 256SSD.
I love 13" size wise, but rMBP performed below my expectations. It works actually slower both in Safari and iWork than my MBP 13" early'11. Geekbench for mine cMBP is 6601 which is almost similar to the rMBP mentioned earlier in the thread. That is why I would strongly recommend everyone who switch from the regular MBP to retina to think twice before going for 13" instead of 15". For £1.7k it is not what I expected.
Because the 13" is the perfect notebook form factor. I've used a 13" for years and when I bought the 15" rMBP I can't help but notice how big it is. It's not always a good thing.
13" is the best balance between portability and screen size.

the vaio Z is the competitor, not a ultrabook. I want to see how that i7 3520m is going to handle the i7 3612qm of the Z, not good I tell you
I always chuckle when some folks start in with the "buy some weights, pump up and then go for the 15". The 13" is a great form factor and will fit in most "normal" work bags -- not to mention the dreaded "working back in Coach" while flying.
I'm really looking forward to mine.
I'm sure you'll prove your point in speed (as the LAPTOPMAG results already show).
For those that have never purchased a 13 MPB, it has never, in its entire history, been a contender for speed. It traded that for portability and battery life with more ports than the MBA. It's really that simple.![]()
Im sorry? That was a pitiful thing that they released and called a review, they always do that.
Apparently you dont know what the vaio z is, let me show you

that thing weights 2.56lbs packs up to a quad cpu and carries the same amount of ram, also being equipped with one of the best panels in the market be it either the 900p or the 1080p, in terms of color accuracy and reproduction its surpasses the panel on any macbook until now, since we dont have any numbers on the rmbp 13, Im not going to include that on a list.
Thankfully or not I own the mbp 13 early 2011, I pretty much know what niche that machine is supposed to be.
