Um...yes it does. I've been using it for a few days now on the 9.1 public beta. All the British newspapers I'd usually skim through are pushing articles to the News app. I'm finding it pretty good, actually.

Um...no it doesn't! As you stated you are using 9.1 which is not 9.0

Most likely the BBC opted-out with the News app probably to make sure you go to their page directly and view their ads.

The BBC in the UK has no adverts on the TV, radio, apps or website. So it wouldn't stand to reason when News is launched in the UK.

I assume they will launch when it does in the UK? Or maybe they just want us to use the BBC News app.

It may be the that this is a priority for ad-supported media. The Guardian and Mail can (slightly?) extend their reach and continue to get revenue. BBC in the UK does not need revenue. Is there a BBC international news app with advertising?

It's ok, but I still like Flipboard a little more.

Same for me. It's a weak imitation of it at this point. From Apple's description, I was expecting more. However, I'm sure that it will improve over time.

On the surprising side, it includes categories for Android news. In fact, the very first headline it showed me was about how poorly the Apple Android app for transferring data to an iPhone was rated.

iOS 9.1 public beta has the news app for more countries than jut the US including Australia :)

i played with this on the betas and while its not bad one thing stuck out. No categories. There are easily 100 sources that i might be looking at but I might not want them all jumbled up. but I can't separate my tech sources from my movies sources and so on.
real newspapers knew the power of separating front page from entertainment from sports etc

Same thing for me, I would love to be able to at least be able to add categories to my news sources that I add ... not available ...

Also, A lot of websites that I go to with Safari does not even have the option to add to news ... Same websites work with Feedly .... witch in my opinion is a FAR better option for RSS news feeds, in fac the layout of Feedly on the iPhone is almost the same as the iOS9 News App.

I was looking for far more out of the iOS9 News app .... Seems Ill be sticking with Feedly

I didn't realise it was US only at launch. It was just about the only thing I was interested in. What a let down.

It's ok, but I still like Flipboard a little more.

I'll give this a try for a while longer but I love the Flip-style of Flipboard. I like the ticks/flips rather than a continuous scroll also, I've been using the Flipboard straight/auto fill of stuff but do like being able to quickly go straight to Apple News, or Sports, or Photography sections.

I think News needs improvement. but if you have never picked up any similar style news/reading app in the past, what 7 years, then this is a welcome addition.

For those in Canada if you want the news app to appear, just change the Language and Region setting to United States.

Also on my iPhone 5, when I launch news, I don't get past the first page, it just keeps clocking. I don't see the various news bubbles.
Anyone with the same issue?

Why is it that certain websites in Safari dont offer the option of ADD TO NEWS ?
Same websites work on other RSS apps .....

I love it. It hasn't even been out for 24 hours and it's already my most frequently used app. I find the scrolling to be more efficient than the Flipboard-style flipping. They have a pretty comprehensive list of news sources already and I'm sure there's more to come.

Not sure why a couple of you say that News articles can't be organized by topics. I have "Apple, Inc", "Business", "Design", "Finance", "Gadgets", "Health", "Movies", "Science", and "Technology" all as topics I've picked. When I go into any of them, the articles titles are listed with source logos cleanly displayed underneath as a tag line.

I like the very different display formats that they use for the iPad vs the iPhone. Flipbook's iPhone format is "prettier" looking with photo headers, but I can only see one article preview at a time. The News format on the iPhone is a bit more spartan looking with mostly text, but it's more efficient. I can quickly peruse far more articles in one glance or a few small swipes.

The FEEDLY app would like to see you try it out

International readers should note that Apple News is currently available in the U.S. only.

Not sure this is true. I don't have access to Apple News. But my coworker, also Canadian and with a Canadian iPhone, does.

Yeah, for now the developer of Flipboard has nothing to worry about.

You can checkout the categories in the news app by clicking on the Favorites button on the bottom icon bar. This will take you to all your added news sources by category.
