I'm positive that the majority of people using instagram use it FOR the filters, not for the social network. If you're a good photographer or just simply took a great photo, you don't need instagram to get it out there. I'm not bashing the service, but I am not going to defend the millions of photos on there that are a waste of time.

You are positive? How so? It sounds to me like you are just making a baseless assumption. Instagram is a good place for real photographers to show their work and to see the creative work of others and provide inspiration. It's not all about the filters.
 
well I've used it several times, I'm not sure how I would have formed my opinion any other way. It's cool if people like it, like I said earlier it has its purpose. I just don't like it when high schoolers with camera phones think they are being artistic by using it. And that right there sums up their user base. More baseless assumption for ya.

Not gonna argue there is a lot of that. That would be the bad side of Instagram. They still aren't using it for the filters though, they are just trying to amass the most followers and likes as if it were some sort of competition.
