Instagram Could Hide the Like Count on Photos

Seems so pointless to change, but what do I know.

There’s a theory that the more likes a post has the more likes a post will get. If true this would be good.

It’s not like they’re removing likes, it might hurt influencers etc initially but fundamentally, the impressions and reach metrics are still there.

It’s smart on instagrams part because it funnels influencers and businesses into paying for influence

It might even have more value as people are actually liking the image and not “liking the likes”.

This is just going to lead to “influencers” posting screenshots of their like count. Absolutely pointless.

I was thinking the same thing. The only people who most likely care about how many "likes" they get are the Instagram "influencers."

I just can't stand how Instagram has become a popularity contest with many people.

What they need to do is ensure that all the likes and comments are real. Then you don't need to hide anything. What's pointless is that now people can buy followers, likes and comments so you don't know if their content is actually worth tuning into or if they're just buying "fame".

If they had a product vision they would just do this, instead of 'leaking' this through blogs to gauge impact and outcry.

Seems like it's simply more along the lines of fairly typical and common limited A/B testing than anything else.
