It’s sort-of understandable, given that iPad owners are only a fraction of smartphone owners, and there’s both the browser interface and the ability to run the iPhone app on iPad. That’s different from WhatsApp, which wasn’t usable at all on iPad.Finally! It only took them over a decade. It’s ridiculous that one of the most media focused apps has ignored the iPad for so long. Better late than never, I guess. Hopefully they actually optimize it for the larger screen and don’t just give us a stretched-out phone version.
Not offering an iPad app isn’t anticompetitive. Rather to the contrary, it allows competitors to better compete by offering an iPad app for their competing service.Isn't it curious that the government (both US and EU) love to call out Apple for anticompetitivness or even monopoly, but seemed disconcerned that META would not provide an Instagram app for iPad until (sometime). FaceBook (Meta) acquired Instagram in 2012. IPad had already been around for two years before that. So 13 years later they get around to offering an app. Hmmm....
For nondefeatable advertising.Isn’t it just a website anyway?
What does it need an app for?
To mine and sell your data much easier and quicker…Isn’t it just a website anyway?

A higher resolution won’t make you look sharper.Does that mean I need to reupload all my photos in a much high resolution, because 1440x1800 does not look sharp enough on an iPad?
Yep not being able to make calls/video calls etc is a killer, especially outside the US where Whatsapp is the default messaging app for a lot of people. With the iPad app you can do all that now which is so much better. It’s sort-of understandable, given that iPad owners are only a fraction of smartphone owners, and there’s both the browser interface and the ability to run the iPhone app on iPad. To be fair you *can* use the iPhone app on an iPad, it’s just stretched, so it’s not like access isnt thereIsn't it curious that the government (both US and EU) love to call out Apple for anticompetitivness or even monopoly, but seemed disconcerned that META would not provide an Instagram app for iPad until (sometime). Made the same move almost exactly a year ago. Haven’t looked back since.I finally deleted Instagram and Threads from my phone and im not looking back.
It honestly felt more freeing than ending a toxic relationship.
It’s mainly because Apple competes better. Rather than getting the government involved, Apple just does better where they expect they can do better. That’s why we have the iPhone (and Android). It’s why we have the Apple Watch and why the wearables market is expanding.Isn't it curious that the government (both US and EU) love to call out Apple for anticompetitivness or even monopoly, but seemed disconcerned that META would not provide an Instagram app for iPad until (sometime). why if we have them on phonesFinally! It only took them over a decade. It’s ridiculous that one of the most media focused apps has ignored the iPad for so long. Better late than never, I guess. Instagram Threads, Meta's X competitor, has now grown to over 350 million monthly active users, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed during the company's Q1 2025techcrunch.com
Instagram Threads, Meta’s X competitor, has now grown to over 350 million monthly active users, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed during the company’s Q1 2025 earnings call on Wednesday. That’s an increase of 30 million users since the prior quarter, where Meta reported that Threads had 320 million users.
While Threads is still small in comparison to Meta’s other social apps — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp — its growth is helping to cement its place in the microblogging app ecosystem. In total, Meta says that more than 3.4 billion people now use at least one of Meta’s apps daily.
On Wednesday’s call, Zuckerberg told investors that the growth indicates that Threads “continues to be on track to become our next major social app.” He additionally noted that there’s been a 35% increase in time spent on Threads as a result of improvements to the app’s recommendations systems.
It's much easier to stalk you via an app than via web browser.Isn’t it just a website anyway?

You gotta give Insta a try another day but register completely new account. No friends, no people who know you, just for stuff you actually like to watch. This way you will re-tune the algorithm.I finally deleted Instagram and Threads from my phone and im not looking back.
It honestly felt more freeing than ending a toxic relationship.
Well, someone actually uses that.No one uses threads.
I guess Microsoft can take this title🤣Don’t get me wrong I think meta is pure evil
