it’s funny that everything Facebook owns is reviled by most everyone- yet billions are addicted to it.

Show super short videos that only play for a few seconds and auto-play the next video before you even get bored.
And people wonder why attention spans are abysmally low. Can't even keep interest with short form video. I've switched away from YT app to using within Safari and I love the omission of the Shorts tab. Sick of that crap.

I only watch the Instagram posts that my wife forwards to me (my addiction is Apple News+), but it reminds me of when MTV debuted. My sister would be watching, and I'd be passing by on my way to do something else, and a cool music video would be on. Then the next one would come on, and I'd watch it. If I didn't like it, well, in three minutes, another one would be on, so I'd wait for it. In this way, 30 or more minutes easily would pass, with me still standing in the same place.

Someone I watch on YouTube occasionally calls it 'poopstagram'. Actually using the 's-word'.

I never got hooked on it, so I can only wonder what a morass of dependency it is for some people. Facebok is evil, but then so is innate human nature. *sigh*

And slow internet has made me way more 'type-A' over the years. I have become so much more impatient and hate to wait for things. (Come on Apple Car and Goggles!!!)

"Our studies have shown that at least 30 minutes a day of connecting with people in the MetaVerse is healthy. 9 out of 10 doctors agree*"

*Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dre, Doc Ock, Doctor Who, Doctor Strange, McDreamy, Dr. Scully, Dr. Watson, and Doogie all agree. Dr. Banner does not agree, because he is the Hulk and Hulk smash."
Doctor Who's endorsement is highly suspect as time is irrelevant to a Time Lord.

Not a huge issue since iOS and Android both have functions built-in to the OS to allow you to limit time spent in apps and on your phone period.

Just use screentime to set your own limits.
I wish screen time required a password to extend limits. Something besides clicking a button that’s says “ignore my limits”. I already do that with cookies I wish that screen time would enforce limits better. Maybe make you do the breath app three times first.

the increased level of content editing has become crazy, I see so little new stuff it’s pointless. All is personally see is adverts for bad artit’s, realtors and crypto nft crap. it used to actually be rather good.

Thankfully there’s no limit on the number of times we can use the word “limit.”

Limit.

It must have cut to much into their ad revenue, probably even part of the amount they blame on Apple privacy features.

Instagram knew so many people are addicted to it especially teenagers to adults, bit too late to add this new features…

Once you have old habit it is really hard to shake it off unless you have a strong willpower.

My life is surprisingly better without any social media in it. (OK, one guilty pleasure is Reddit on occasion. But I'm Twitter/FB/IG-free since Covid.)

So yeah, highly recommended.

They bumped the limit because it takes much longer to find (via scrolling) an actual photo post from someone I chose to follow! ? …it’s all ads & randomly inserted TikTok videos anymore.
It’s a hassle to follow actual photographers/people, or even companies without 9:10’s of it being junk ads.

LOL. The dealer doesn't want to you to stop.
... which is understandable.

The baffling thing is why this feature ever got included in the product in the first place. Almost like your neighborhood meth dealer providing a pamphlet of the dangers of meth use to each customer and then realizing it isn't good for his business.

We should limit how much Instagram limits the limits that you set for yourself.

But cigarettes...

In Australia they print pictures of cancer patients and masses (as I remember), and that doesn't stop people from smoking. *shrug*

You are right.

Once a person develops a habit or addiction, you can't reason your way out of it, because the habit is an emotion response and not a rational one.
