So it's like YouTube, only without the user base and it costs money. Where do I sign up!

Let's hope so. The demand is certainly there.
Instagram will want a huge cut. Creators hopefully won't be ok with that.

Instagram is simply copying Twitch the same way Youtube copied Twitch (and Patreon). Just another way for a company to bank on someone else's fanbase/success. Whatever floats your boat.

Imagine electing to pay someone who likely already makes more than you can fathom through stuff like Patreon or donations just because "you appreciate their content".
I actually follow a few people on Patreon who put out some great informative content. Things like oversimplified, or crash course, TLDR. I do appreciate their content and do contribute now and then to their patreon. However, I think the economics of it is... interesting. It's basically just free-market dynamics - except the marketplace (youtube, instagram, etc.) is the controlling force. There's a lot to unpack really to figure out if it's sustainable.

This is about connecting incredible creators with their fans in more meaningful ways.

One thing i've learnt with pay subscription based modeling used on social media is that it pushes the content creator to put all the good stuff behind their pay subsbscription which leaves their channel becoming more boring and less interesting. Instagram will go the same way.

Wondering if this opens the door for bringing NFT's to Instagram ?
And then what? What would NFT's bring to instagram?
Can you give me one legitimate example of NFTs working for Instagram? What are people going to pay for? A post that can be taken down by the actual creator?

I’m genuinely intrigued as NFTs are slowly popping in to just about everything and I haven’t seen one good example yet of their use that isn’t just a cash grabbing scam.

Edited word used.
Nothing wrong with NFT's, but the problem is that famous and other idiots are promoting NFTs for all useless purposes.

Instagram’s M.O. is monetization so I think they see this an opportunity to take NFT’s mainstream. Instagram provides content creators with a platform to showcase/sell their work to a broad audiance, and in turn Instagram takes a cut.

Companies like Meta/Merda/Facebook who have been weaponised against rational and enlightened society should be booted off the stock exchanges as punishment.

That's the best threat that regulators should have in place to force executives to clean up their companies and act like responsible people. The fines they pay are too small and meaningless. They need to become poor again.
