Same boat. I’m out of meta, Amazon is down to just prime as it’s already paid (returned that color kindle), and decided this year to pause purchases of Apple products for the first time in over 20 years.

When Brazil banned temporarily X, all American congress came on screaming that we were not a democracy anymore blah blah blah.
And that’s because X didn’t want to ban account of people doxxing police officers, and defying the court by firing 300 people, including their legal representative.
It surely was not because we didn’t like X and asked Musk to sell its Brazilian business to a Brazilian company.

The big tech overlords are so damn greedy with regards to tiny royalties for content providers (particularly artists & writers). There has never been a more appropriate time to support independent bookshops, in-person events, screenings and favour egalitarian online services such as Substack, Bandcamp, Bluesky and Mastodon over the tight ass billionaires at Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft & Meta.
Here’s hoping for the high corporate taxes and low personal taxes part of that too. Seems like the carrot of lowering them to near zero by investing in jobs and infrastructure like the US did in the 50s, 60s and 70s might have been a good idea…
