Actually it does there. Have you actually done this or are you just spouting off. It sends your yahoo IM's as a text. How about actually doing some research before you spout BS.

Odd. I'm using Beejive with Yahoo IM and what I do is I create a chat with a friend of mine here in US and start it with a +1(area code)(his number) and they receive it flawlessly as an SMS message, I don't get charged. When they reply back, I receive it as an IM on my Beejive app, same thing no charge. They do send it out as a text but never touched my text plan cause it's free (data used).

What I'm talking about is just using Yahoo. When I log out of my yahoo account it sends me IM's as SMS's and they arrive from some weird phone number. I can go back and forth with them just like doing regular SMS but they are on their home computer and I am on my phone. It doesn't use any data, just SMS for me.

Oh I see, you're on the "I'm mobile" feature for Yahoo, now I understand. Yes it works like that. That's why right now people buy IM apps like Beejive in order to save money so we wouldn't have to pay for expensive SMS plans anymore ;)

I'm on unlimited so I can text to my girlfriend at work. She's in a cube so talking on the phone is out. Cube people always want to be in your business.

yah thats if you're using the mobile yahoo method, which you clearly didn't indicate in your post. i'm talking about sending SMS through yahoo for free.

Just wait for Palringo to release their next update....

If you go to Palringo's forum, there's a post about the alpha testing going on:

Palringo Devs,

My apologies if this is the wrong area to post feedback, but here's my feedback on your latest build of the Alpha ver. of Palringo released today:

1. Email notifications working - I'm very pleased as for the first time, I'm receiving email notifications, however one suggestion would be that when you open the email from Palringo that it takes you directly into your chat. Beejive implements this, and I think this would be much better and eliminates an extra step.
