15x improvement in "4K UHD usage"

First of all, that statement makes no sense. Secondly, they should be fined for making such bogus claims. 15% is more likely.

So the long awaited MacBooks are going to be out-of-date on release.

Apple like to be a couple of generations behind so it can buy processors on the cheap.

Can't fault Apple too much. It's not as if the newest gen processor was ready Apple to use. Has Intel even start making versions of Kaby for Macs yet?

It is possible.

The same way a computer converting x265 without hardware acceleration will result in 100% processor usage when compared to one with hardware acceleration will be at 10%

What happened to the Apple that used to get Intel's chips BEFORE anyone else?
That's funny because Apple is asking "what happened to the Intel that used to give us chips before anyone else?" The answer is Intel is so late delivering that early chips are still late.

looks like the MBA is staying round for a while longer.

Still doesn't explain why others get them first...

If Intel was late, no one would get them early.

I know it won't happen, but I hope there'll be a Kaby Lake MBP available in January. My 2008 MBP is still going strong, but I'll likely need to upgrade early next year to go back to grad school.

Considering the treatment the MBPs have gotten the last few years I wouldn't assume Kaby Lake ever comes.

Remember when everyone thought new Mac Pros meant regular updates to that line up?

Not sure why they put a photo of the iPad Pro at 1:29... it's using Apple's A9X chip, not something from Intel.

Users expecting new MacBook Pro's with these processors, think March 2017 at best. The wait is gonna be long. Thanks Intel for making my 2015 13" MBP cutting edge for another few months.

I have a hard time believing Apple will update the MacBook Air hardware or design. More likely, the update is a larger variant of the 12-inch MacBook - perhaps a 14-inch model.

The Air moniker needs to die. Everything is thin.

No one at  is listening to these comments, unfortunately. They're about to unveil new MacBooks in a week so you can go ahead and kill any hope for these chips.

But the Intel announcement says:
We are incredibly excited about the strong partnership with our OEM customers and expect more than 100 different 2 in 1s and laptops powered by 7th Gen Intel Core to be available starting in September through this holiday season.

I'd be first in line for a 14 inch retina macbook. I'm actually a little disappointed the new MacBook Pro won't have a tapered design. Personally I don't need the power so, I usually bought the pro for screen size only.

Yawn. It's only a short matter of time before Apple starts using their own custom designed chips in their Macs.

If they actually update the MBA, they could put the Kaby Lake i7-7500U into it while the MBP gets a more powerful Skylake processor. Then in the spring, a Kaby Lake refresh and maybe a few minor modifications if Apple realizes just like with iPhone 6, it might be prudent to do so.

Yeah, and because it's a little bigger, maybe it will get the more powerful Kaby Lake-U processors, including the i7-7500U (and one more USB-C port of course).
