Most of the computer running PPC are relatively useless for using as main computer because they are getting dated. But they can still be used for a specific purpose like a server or file storage if someone would want to keep one. Don't get me wrong I love my old macs but yet again they are old and 5-6 years ago the newest one came out and 5 years is a long time in the electronics industry.

I actually object to that statement. I, as well as most of us on the PowerPC Forum, Use PowerPC Macs AS our primary machines. Way I see it if you can still use a P4 Socket 478 computer running 512MB or less of RAM and Shitdows XP than they can still support PowerPC. Adobe and Google being the two main companies that chose to abandon PowerPC.

Yes, you can, some one wrote an emulator to do that.
" Qemu-Darwin-user allows Mac OS X/Intel Applications to run on Mac OS X/PowerPC. It's conceptually similar to doing the opposite of Rosetta and was therefore referred to as "Attesor". "

I just found this in a Google search.
Running Intel Mac applications on PowerPC Mac"

I learned a long time ago working in IT for IBM, Intel, LSi Logic, etc, that just about any thing can be done in the software with in reason, as long as you have people with the talent dedicated to making it happen.

Seems very interesting, Sadly I use programs that will compile to just intel processors not PPC:(.

You guys realise that this thread was 4 years old before it got randomly resurrected this morning, right?
^^^This.

Not to mention that unless things have changed recently, Wine will not work on PowerPC Mac.

Further note based on this link provided, the last edit date of that Wiki page…

QemuDarwin (last edited 2013-07-07 03:10:28)

In July that page will be two years out of date. So, any supposition that you can get an Intel app to run on a Mac is based on a page two years out of date with no further development.

I didn't actually, not until after I posted to it. BTW its "Realize" not "Realise"

EDIT: I happened to notice 3 banned members in this thread? Anyone know why they got banned?

The Americans changed the language, so you get the modifier. :D

Spanner = wrench
Bonnet = hood
Boot = trunk
Chips = french fries

A few "changes" off the top of my head. :D

Of course the big one is that we drive on the correct side of the road now. :D :D

I love the cultural differences in language...however, one thing I've never been able to forgive, is the short scale number system that the US adopted and has now become universal ie a billion is a thousand million as opposed to a million million, a trillion is a million million etc.
Nonsense ;)

Crisps.

Obviously. ;)

We do have French Fries, mainly due to the influence of McD's. Chips are generally much thicker cut, at least double the height/width of a french fry.

Not sure what's worse, necrothread or massively off topic!

Here here.

Even worse than hard drive manufacturers that can't count in binary!

Why does there HAVE to be a difference? English is English there is only one English

For the record, my daughter's name is Honour.

The correct Queen's English spelling of the name (word).

Yeah, yeah. I was going to comment that we changed it up once we crossed the ocean. ;) Poe-tay-toe, poe-tah-toe.

Heck, a lot of people would claim that we don't speak English in Kentucky. My Central Kentucky accent is far from strong, but more than once I've made a phone call to someone from across the country and they've responded with "Now just where are you from?"

Of course where the rubber really meets the road is when we start talking about the largest city in the state. Out of staters like to think it's called "Looeyville." When you call it that, expect to get a "you ain't from around here, are you?" It's Lou-ah-vul(how I say it) or "Lou-vul."

I thought it was "Lewis-ville" (being that it is spelled LOUIS(LEWIS)Ville
