This information looks to be 100% correct but then again, it's just a rumor. But I agree with the specs and release date of this it just seems to be right for some reason and March 3rd is a Tuesday. I just hope the iMacs do not take this long but then again, it might? we will see what happens. But this looks to be 100% true and accurate.

Now what does it tell you when most responses about the netbook class processors are bad ones?

I thought I was the only one that has NEVER seen the appeal in the atom processor until I came into this thread. Keep in mind I hate netbooks.

....... If it's going to have a Dual-core Atom 330 on it, it better f**king carry a $299 or $349 price tag........

Wow I'm really pissed...

But this doesn't look REMOTELY truthful. Since when did Apple go to CeBIT?

I don't believe it.

If it is true, and there is not a new addition to the product line to fill the gap.

Hackintosh here I come.

So Apple will be using a less powerful processor, will charge the same amount of money, and will launch it at a show Apple doesn't care about.

Makes totally sense to me.

If they could reduce the size they could probably merge the Apple TV and Mac Mini lines...

But I agree it seems more likely this is for a new Apple TV.

Keep in mind, people, that speed/performance isn't all about Gigahertz. I'm not saying the Atom is as fast as the first intel mini, I'm just saying to react so poorly before the device has been tested.

But yeah, if you could merge the two, and offer 3 models, starting at the Apple TV price points going up to the Mac Mini price (or a bit under), that could be very nice. And heck, an Apple TV with a slot DVD drive is an idea I wouldn't mind at all...

I agree - this would be a bad news!
I seriously don't want to own a Atom-based mini. :-(

But - I'm still looking forward to buy a new C2D mini release by the end of spring!

The day that never comes....

I want to see apple enslaving all other gaming consoles by turning the beloved Mac-Mini into a gaming console and using iPhone and iTouch as Wiimotes. Add to that the :apple:TV capability and we have one mean media server to replace all those cables and boxes from the living rooms. C'mon :apple:, please make this happen...

Of course for this to be realized Mac-Mini need no Atom, we need a core-2 duo in there to pump this little beasts....

Sounds unlikely given that the current, terribly dated minis are 1.83 and 2.0 GHz. Maybe this is for the rumored "larger than iPhone" tablet device?
That device will most likely use ARM.

If this rumor is true, then Apple is really pushing GPU offloading (like $1299 MacBook CPU GHz drop) - most likely too much at this point in time. If Apple's going for price cutting (which I highly doubt is the main reason), then I'd expect the aluminum successor to the $999 white MacBook to be Atom-based.

If anything, Apple will use Atom in a future Apple tv revision. That makes sense.

I've been waiting close to a year for a reasonable update to the mini to replace my aging G4 mini. Unless this is able to run rings around the current mini, or perform equal to the current Macbook, I will not buy it. I will then be forced to look back to the Dell Studio or an iMac, but the iMac will add at least $1000 to my costs! (that is to get similar screen size, etc)

I hope if this rumor is true about the atom that it is released as a mini-micro version of the platform while the existing box is given the same goodies as the Macbook.

Its the Apple version of the Eee box. No optical drive.

"The Worlds Smallest Desktop Computer"

Too bad it wouldn't cost $299.

The Apple TV makes absolute sense.

Though, maybe it's a way of hindering people from using the Mac Mini as an "Apple TV"?

Just as some others have said, I think that the sources are getting mixed up. I don't believe that Apple would put an Atom in a Mini, so I believe Mini will retain the Core 2 Duo's. So, As some other stated, I also believe that this is a mix up and could be an Apple TV upgrade, or a netbook, or mini tablet, the latter which I highly doubt. But then again, nothing can be certain with Apple, they have definitely gone against the grain sometimes.

xMac. Not happening.

Eh, Now that Jobs in on the way out, I'd say chances are looking better than they have in years.

But this rumor, atrocious. A $500 atom desktop? That's only about 100% markup, judging from prices on comparable machines. (Unless you think Apple spends $200 or so dollars on the case).
