Make it with 15 inch screen and you've got the MacBook Pro!

i may be dreaming, but consider an intermediate product, replacing the 12" inch powerbook, but scaling the stats down, to integrated graphics, like mentioned in a previous post on this thread, keeping the metal body and thin looks but being more in the ibook price range

the first revision ibook had great styling, the second revision brought the form factor into a thin and light plastic body, and it would be nice to have an aluminum powerbook looking ibook, but that may be stretching it

but keep the hard drive size down and integrate the graphics and you may keep it, in this day and age to a thousand bucks for a core solo model...the pc side does it and so can we

Holy Jesus. I can't see a backlit keyboard. In a laptop that size I'd expect iSight, but no frontrow. Hopefully a 64MB Gfx card, not IIG. Everything else the same. About $1200US and I'm sold. :)
Dirty crippled children. I think since the iMac, MacBook Pro, and even $599 Mini Intels all have Front Row, its a pretty safe bet to say the MacBook will have it as well.

We need more Macbook rumors, and we need them ... now.

Of course like everyone else I've watched the progression of the Intel laptop with interest.

Because my partner has just upgraded his computer this month I'll be waiting until April next year to upgrade my 12" Powerbook. Considering I'll have to upgrade my Adobe/Macromedia suites and Corel Painter to Intel versions as well I'm very keen to see what the MacBooks (aka Intel iBook) will be. The MacBook Pro will be a little too expensive to buy when I also have to buy new versions (Adobe probably won't be releasing upgrades) of major software suites.

I know traditionally the Powerbook was preferred over an iBook for using such software but I'm thinking that because Intel is now in the foray the MacBook will be somewhat better than the iBook currently is in terms of screen resolution/brightness, video card, processor speed, etc. I suppose too that by the time I do upgrade to MacBook would have seen at least one revision.

Yeah, it probably will, but it's definitely not necessary. Who is going to sit more than a foot away from a 13" screen when watching a movie? I suppose you could argue it would be useful for playing music, but you better have external speakers :p

I think frontrow would be great. Plug it into my monitor on my desk and I can sit on my bed and watch videos/dvds without having to get up to fastforward, pause, etc. Great for music from my desk as well. People seem to forget that laptops arent always in the lap.

The top of the line MacBook WILL have dedicated graphics. I SWEAR IT. It can't be any other way. I am willing to give each and every member of this site $100,000 if none of the MacBook's come with dedicated graphics. That's how confident I am.
Can I get my $100,000 in cash?
