I've had that random red but only in the menu bar, open any window and it's gone. I've tried to screenshot it, but anything I do it disappears. It started in Sonoma. I don't believe it's a hardware issue at least in my case as I can't replicate it and it's only happened maybe 6 or 7 times and not in Sequoia.
1 kernel panic with Affinity Photo2.

2019 19,1 iMac, 64 GB of RAM, Radeon Pro 575X 4 GB, on an external 1TB Thunderbolt Drive, build 24A5320a,
Intel Macs as far as I know can't update to 15.1 yet.
I have the same issue on my iMac Pro with Sonoma, a red menu bar but doing anything else gets rid of it. Hoping Sequoia doesn't make it worse.

Since macOS Sequoia dropped today, I couldn’t resist installing it, but surprise, surprise—the issue’s still hanging around. I reported it again, explaining that my 2018 MacBook Pro is also facing the same problem and included logs from both machines for good measure.

I upgraded to the RC on my base model iMac Pro last week and have had quite a few graphical issues. I play World of Warcraft a lot and have had quite a few freezes followed by reboots and also bright blue landscape and water. Occasionally the whole screen turns red and I have no choice but to power-cycle.

Web pages are sometimes not completely rendering and Safari has lost the ability to play YouTube videos higher than 1080p HD.

I'm not having any of these issues on my M1 MacBook Pro.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update – I’ve been in touch with Apple, and while there’s no fix yet, they are definitely aware of the issue. It's been reported since Sonoma and Sequoia, and they’re still working on a solution. Unfortunately, there’s no timeline on when it’ll be resolved.

I’ll keep you all posted as soon as I get any new info!

The best thing they suggested for affected users on MacRumors is to log a case with Apple. The more it's reported, the better, as it can help prioritize the issue and potentially speed up the fix.

Here is a different graphics bug.

For years and through various versions of macOS I have seen and reported issues with the location of circles manually added to mark faces. The problems occur when the image size is expanded to enable more precise location of the circle. The position and size of the circle jump to various different values. Adding a name for the person circled is also flakey. An added name often just disappears. Sometimes the name as typed will be replaced by characters previously typed. This occurs on my MacPro7,1, now running macOS 15.1 (24B83) (Intel). This happens only when the image has been expanded.

The issue does not occur on my MacBook Pro running the same macOS version on Apple Silicon.

I have filed many Feedbacks describing this issue. None have even been marked as describing an issue that has been reported. Can anyone replicate the issue?

I've got the same red flashing glitch on my 2020 27" iMac (i7, Radeon 5500XT 8gb, 128gb ram), MacOS 15.1. Went through the Apple Support loop today – first restarting the machine in Safe Mode, second removing all Login at startup items, none of which worked. I've got connected to higher level tech who said he has an 2018 (iMac?) and experiencing the same glitch. So it is indeed a known issue and they are supposedly trying to fix it, but I don't have high hopes. He told me to reduce transparency in Accessibility, which may be a workaround – still have to see if it is since I can't reproduce the glitch, it's random. Anyways, strange issue to have on a 3 year old computer.

MacPro7,1 with AMD Vega II gpu, macOS 15.2 (24C98). In Safari with several windows open the Safari menu bar (not a Safari window menu bar) turned bright red. When I typed a few more keystrokes the red went away.

Just another data point.

Now that some time has passed and there are several new versions of Sequoia, my question is whether the problem has been fixed in the meantime? My Configuration: Intel MBP 2019, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M. Thank you :)

Thanks for your feedback. That sounds bad.
Are the aforementioned problems very disruptive?

I keep getting red menu bar when using graphics apps like After Effects on an iMac Pro. Sequoia. Any advice? Latest OS that doesn't do this?

I can confirm that over the last 24 hours, the issue has not reappeared. I've consistently forced the system to run on discrete graphics and have not observed any red artifacts when switching tabs, using desktop widgets, or anywhere else in the system. Based on this, I'm fairly confident the issue has been resolved, though there is no official mention of it in the release notes. I've reached out to Apple to get confirmation from their engineers on whether the bug was officially addressed.

I’d love for others here to update and check for themselves if they are still experiencing the issue after the update!
