Maybe Intel just don't like the idea of dual chips in single die thing. It's indeed a bit of cheating IMO.
Intel used to do that from 2005-2008. I guess they moved to single-die while AMD moves to dual-die for high-end server. Then again one of the early reports for Haswell states in-package vector coprocessors so we might be seeing the return of dual-die there.
