Glad I opted for the i9. Mine should be here any minute! The UPS truck looks like it’s getting close!! Not a bad deal vs the iMac Pro.

Oh wow I hadn’t seen that. That’s great to hear! Congrats on what must be an amazing machine! Glad they could get the cooling worked out well in the new chips.
Thanks. I have to be honest and say that I am quite surprised at how cool and quiet it is running. The speed is awesome too! Haters gonna hate. ;)

Typing this on my '19 i9 iMac right now. Couldn't be happier. Blazing fast, dead quiet and surprisingly cool. I find it quite humorous the amount of people taking the piss with a machine they do not have in their possession. Maybe it's jealousy, ignorance or trolling. Not sure which...?
every imac is cold and quiet when you are surfing the web....try some rendering, or something that is considered above medium load, and you will hear the fan
I even not have to try something harder like CG or decoding video, i just put an simple free game on that your machine and those statements of yours are gone

for just 25% faster, we don't care about the hassle

25% is a significant amount. 10 hours of rendering or whatever gets cut down to 7.5. It doesn't even have to be a Hackintosh, it could be any computer. It's the CPU that matters and Apple absolutely SUCKS when it comes to making a powerful computer.

For the record, Hackintoshes are not a hassle.

It would be interesting to see something like "sustained Geekbench" scores.

AFAIK, the benchmark only runs a very short time - too short to show any thermal deficiencies.
I'd like to see how much you'd get running it a full hour.

Then, one could better compare it to an iMacPro.

Apple has very good cpu into that imac pro with proper cooling...so again, we don't hassle with hackintoshes

Have been waiting for someone that has one. The reviews out there solar have not said anything about noise which was a genuine concern after the 2017 i7's.
Makes me look towards this to replace my Mac Pro in the signature with one of these.

Agree with this. I have a base iMac Pro and love how quiet it is.
Yours has a new type of cooling inside...this imac has the same thermals since 2012

keep of waiting to see...i bet the thermals are the same as the last gen imacs

All of the above!

Prepare yourself for the $#!7storm headed your way...grab some popcorn, a bottle of Coke, thick skin, et al. Remember, reality does not apply.

Nothing beats Apple's polish, but, it always comes at a cost. Grab Cinebench R20, and let us know your processor score. You could also grab Intel Power Gadget, and see what frequency it settles to as the load reaches steady-state.

I have a maxed out 2013 iMac and the 2019 iMacs are the first that seem to be a real upgrade spec-wise. The 2017 models only showed a 15% increase spec-wise (in 4 years!). Ok, you have 4x the pixels, but my iMac is certainly good enough for the next 5 years. If Apple wants people to upgrade they need to come up with something serious (hello ARM Macs).

All the upgrades in the last 12 months are rather small (except for the Mac Mini maybe), so it looks good for ARM Macs. Apple will need to make a statement about it at this year’s WWDC as people will hold off buying new Mac’s now.

Can't wait for Apple to start putting their own processors in all their Macs. No more waiting to see what Intel's roadmap is like before they can upgrade devices.

Pathetic results, a Hackintosh with the same CPU (9900k) and proper cooling is about 25% faster.

1) The iMac geekbench scores are close to the CPU benchmark scores. We’ll have to wait to see what the sustained performance is like, I haven’t seen any benchmarks yet. Maybe they’re already out?

2) For the record, Hackintoshes are not only a hassle for pros that use their Mac to make a living, pros also don’t (usually) steal the tools they need to do their work.

It's no suprise that newer chips are faster than 2 year old ones. What I'm interested in is what the temperatures are. The i7 2017 iMac gets really hot with heavy use. Wit the same internal cooling solution, does the i9 throttle?

There's a very good chance it throttles. These Macs are not designed for powerful CPUs.

Couldn't care less.

No larger screens with slimmer bezels -- CHECK
No updated thermal architecture -- CHECK
No PCIe-flash across the board -- CHECK
No 16GB RAM as standard -- CHECK
No 120Hz ProMotion -- CHECK
No Face ID - CHECK
No True Tone Display -- CHECK
No 1080p Webcam -- CHECK
No Tx Security Chip -- CHECK
No Space Grey option -- CHECK
No backlit keyboard -- CHECK
Tim Cook still there -- CHECK

Reading your list about what you don't like about the iMac (and seeing if I agree), then the last one comes and made me chuckle. XD

Leaving aside that geekbench can only show so much (or so little), having up to 60 percent performance increase within 2 years or less, being considered not enough, blows my mind.
