Has anyone seen the screen shots from IE 7? I was having a problem updating a program on the finance computer where I work (it said it required IE 6 SP1 or higher to instal the program. I had IE 6 SP2 installed. Microsoft.... go figure!) so on a whim i thought I would try installing IE 7 beta. Well, in the end... it worked! But oh WOW! IE 7 has a BUTT UGLY user interface.

I really don't see how it's any worse than the previous one, which was indeed ugly. :)

The old one was plain and boring, but at least consistent. This looks like a mish mash of hideous clashing colours and ugly icons. I might also note the many Safari-esk features it seems to be using.

Good god that tabbed browsing is revolutionary! Kudos to Microsoft for coming up with such an original feature.

I like Safari too, but that's just not true.

 = sarcasm

It amazes me that something 'free' can be done nicely like Firefox and a company with the financial muscle of M$ can't seem to do the same, even when they're simply playing catch-up.

looks to glossy? plastic-like? i don't know, i just don't like it. and i don't like Safari much either as it takes forever to load pages. Camino it is for me.

Anyone that wants to download IE7 can download it from MS...ya know...it's available for testing.

However, I wouldn't recommend it. :( It's kinda buggy and doesn't really work that great. It's hard to get to the features that you want and the pop up blockers is a PAIN (yes, worse than regular IE's).

I'm still trying to figure out how to get rid of it....it over writes the regular IE.

I dont know if anyone has seen the recent screen shots of vista but they dropped the start button and replaced it with a really awkward looking windows round button.

the same one that is in that screen shot.

yuk.

EDIT: I lied, its not in the screenshot, but its still damn ugly!

Here's the link to download it. Good luck. ;)

EDIT: Here's how to remove it, pretty easy.

Click “Start,” and then click “Control Panel.”
Click “Add or Remove Programs.”
Check “Show Updates” at the top of the dialog box.
Scroll down the list to “Windows XP – Software Updates,” select “Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2Preview,” and then click "Remove."

it's a combination of firefox and safari... completely screwed up my MS...

nasty colors
bad window blending and
I better have the option to rearrange those home/ rss buttons!

does it even fit w/ the vista color scheme? where is this "vista" thing anyway!?

I gotta say I actually prefer a simple Windows logo over the lame "start" button. I feel insulted every time I see the "start" button.
