That's too funny!

You'll be getting a DMCA take down letter any second now!

If I had a Digg account, I'd put it up there. Anyone here have a digg account?

Am extremely amused by the whole thing, and somewhat ... impressed by the organization and power of the "rebellion."

Revolution must be fundamentally built into democracy -- here is a wonderful example of the will of the "citizenry" in the face of a capitalism that actively seeks their exploitation (even down to the concept of ownership). We could all be moderates and seek a more ethical capitalism, but you have to be proud of any extreme -- even if it's a dumb extreme -- that puts the will of the people before the will of the corporation.

I'm not sure if this is democracy and a rebellion or just synchronized poo-flinging.

this was crazy. I didn't know what was going on when I first saw the numbers. kudos to digg for not deleting the articles now.

and as some posters have mentioned Digg is full of trashy comments, shadowing those meaningful ones.

That may be true. To be honest, I don't frequent there, though I have visited occasionally in the past. But imagine how much worse it could be.

No, it's censorship. Whether one person uses a black marker or a whole media conglomerate choose to ignore/ remove/ block any info whatsoever, you are censoring the data/ media/ facts, ect.

I don't care if you privately own the servers, ect. By your censorship of certain elements you become biased and unbalanced.

You are either for freedom of speech/ the press, ect. or you are for censorship. There is no grey area. You censor things, and because of such actions even one time become biased, or you don't.

Some people who don't have/ understand having a first amendment may not get it that it is indeed censorship…

MR is a censor also, FWI.

So, are you saying that the First Amendment protects someone who posts your address, SSN, credit card numbers, digital signature, fingerprints and PINs online? Access code to your home alarm? Time of day that you routinely leave your house, and list of contents stored inside?

Further, should the insurance companies have access to everyone's DNA to better assess their risks in insuring people? It could easily be extracted from donated blood, any test samples you doctor might take for any reason, or saliva. Isn't that really just information?

Just curious.

Certainly, 2jaded, there's a difference between a large organization exploiting an individual (or a large group of individuals) and a large group of exploited individuals seeking redress against an organization that's actively selling them (and selling them on) a mirage.

This isn't to say I don't get your point or your hyperbole, but is to argue that in the circumstance of HD movies, the concept of intellectual "property" itself maintains the good of the few via an illusion of mass (and personal) ownership.

I am trying to take these statements at face value, without imposing any preconceived notions about the "rights" of MPAA, Digg, consumers, etc. The post does not seem to make any allowances for different situations. The argument seems to be that it is anyone's right to publish any information which can be discovered. I am asking if that is the case.

No, it's NOT censorship. Whether one person uses a black marker or a whole media conglomerate choose to ignore/ remove/ block any info whatsoever, you are PERFORMING A VALUABLE SERVICE, ect.

I don't care if you privately own the servers, ect. By your CLARIFYING of certain elements you become unbiased and balanced.

You are either for freedom of speech/ the press, ect. or you are for censorship. There is no grey area. You clarify things, and because of such actions even one time become more truthful.

Some people who don't have/ understand having a first amendment may not get it that it is indeed a beneficial service…

MR is love, FWI.

Actually it does, but you can be still be sued and/or imprisoned, just as you can be thrown off of a private message board or fired from your job for doing so.

That was probably your point, but I just want to clarify for those not sure what the 1st Amendment actually means.

Spellcheck is built in to Safari and FireFox. It is your right and your responsibility to use them. But luckily here, there are no consequences other than people making fun of you. :p

And then others making fun of them for being grammar nazis. ;)
