Introduce myself + for the first time a Mac owner! Suggest and tips!

Most of the apps that are mentioned in this thread are junk. Don't listen to these people and contaminate your new MBP with these vile apps. Most of them are redundant

Just get BetterTouchTool. Its hands down the best app for OS X.

Some apps in this thread are useful so I don't agree with you that everything is junk, but wow! BTT is really really great! Easy and very very handy!

Well it is the idea of having an app closed. And yes, I have to step of the idea that I need to close a window or program to make it not working anymore, like in windows. It's the same as apps on the iPad, if you don't use them, they don't use any memory or CPU. But still I am wondering, if you have all those things active, don't you really feel any latency on your Mac?

Nope. The only thing which was a resource hog in my experience were virtual machines (e.g. Parallels)

Hmm, that surprises me. Ofcourse, Parallels will lag definetly.

I've just migrated myself from Windows to Mac this week and besides all the suggestions so far, the one I can add is twitter client 'Echofon'. When you use it on your iPhone/iPad too, with their sync option, you never have to read the same tweet twice

I recommend getting cinch from the aPP STORE. Especially if you came from an Aero environment.
