I swear someone, anyone throws out a concept and immediately it's all over Twitter, all over rumor sites and blogs and everyone is best thing ever Apple needs to implement this now! I see this morning someone put an OS X one up on a Medium post. Of course none of these concepts, whether software or hardware, actually have to work, they just have to look good. That's why you get these silly iPhone concepts with no bezels and imbedded home button. Because the person that mocked it up in photoshop or whatever doesn't actually have to engineer it to work. Amazing what can be done when the only limit is ones imagination.

This is why we need some level of customization as not everyone is going to agree on the essentials that should be in control center. I would love personal hotspot there but I also use the calculator all the time. Some want a cellular on/off toggle; I couldn't care less as I never turn it off. At the same time the more customization we get the more some complain about bloat and that iOS is becoming too complicated. Hard to strike the right balance.

Yeah, I know eh. Most of these "concepts" are likely made by twenty-somethings with a LOT to learn about engineering. I am a 41 year old electronics engineer, and so I can realistically say that I have more experience than many of these "concept" designers as to what would work and what would just be a ridiculous notion to propose. Most people over complicate their "concept" - they see what is "cool" and/or "current", and get swept away on their own delusional daydream of their having fallen in love with their ideas, whilst becoming blind to the flaws it presents (this kind of behaviour is commonly seen on the show "Dragon's Den" where aspiring inventors pitch their ideas, most of which are rejected due to being unrealistic and/or they haven't done the maths properly.)

While we're dreaming how about adding per-folder security so we can protect sensitive apps/data without having to authenticate every freaking time the user wants to use his phone. Control center is ok, but that delay at getting to the camera is enough to lose a lot of great photo ops. Frankly a one-button press instant access to the camera would be awesome while we're dreaming.

I don't want color changes or whatever...we want deep structural changes in iOS like the ability to truly run MAC APPS..iPad Pro is there.Waste of big screen.

Otherwise iPad Pro will never be a macbook substitute. These concepts are cool, but won't truly change my life forever.
Vittici does nearly all if not all the work from mac stories on an iPad. It's worth reading his stuff to see what can be done in iOS.

I must admit that I have now actually bothered to watch this "concept" video, and apart from the ridiculous idea of needing/wanting to rearrange your Control Centre shortcut buttons (why on earth would you need to do THAT?), this is a very well made, precise and polished mock up. However, as with all mock ups, it's just a fairytale, and why would you hang your hopes on mythology?

I am not an electronics engineer and am curious: Is there anything particular about this mockup video that you find particularly ridiculous?

why not? its the first thing i installed when i had my iPhone jailbreaked. like i dont need do not disturb there. id replace it with location services in a heart beat

Why still can't turn on/off cellular data in control centre?

Apple thinks its user base is technologically handicapped and wouldnt understand why their mobile data isnt working all of the sudden. thats also why we barely get any choices / toggles to enable or disable something

I just want my next OS to play cinematic music as I do my work, and in real time, so as that email is opening up, the music will crescendo.....

Not necessarily the same, but Spotify has some good workout playlists that are nothing but cinematic chase music. They're really fun to run to.

Where I live, in the country, we have this sound called "bird song" - FAR more relaxing. :)

Are you for real?

I use personal hotspot quite a bit but having to go into settings to activate is such a pain. I just want to put it in control centre.

Just because you wouldn't use something doesn't mean it isn't valuable.

Before FB Messenger was released I was convinced there would be a single app for all messaging services like there currently is for email...

Now that FB Messenger is in its prime the individual features would be far too complex unfortunately.

There actually a lot of cool things there, which as many have noted, will never see the light of day in the current Apple. But honestly, I'm at the point where I'd settle for things just working. Too many features in ios 9 and El Cap are very buggy.
