How do I get off this thread? People are being drama queens.

Brick = dead. No one is bricked.

If you update and restore from iTunes it is fixed

If you back up to iCloud you may have to have *gasp* patience and wait until a few million people aren't all trying to restore at the same time.

People are angry because this is not the first update Apple has screwed up .
How many updates has caused problems ?

I might as well as buy a windows phone or android if I don't want to update to the latests Os

Have you any idea of the inconvenience to do a restore? Especially if you are overseas and only with your phone only ?

Didn't brick my 6 Plus, but now Messages won't open unless I restart the phone and then they work for 10 minutes and then I need to reboot again. Bad decision to upgrade

Yes. I have owned every iPhone some day 1.

However much update week sucks the phone is good.

Over a long period of time, sure. I'm simply saying that situations like this feed directly into peoples fears about updating and I wish that wasn't the case. It's how you get people posting in this thread with the usual "I always wait X releases before updating and you people are all stupid for doing it before then!"

Well, iOS9 was at 53% adoption rate 15 days after release.

As an App Developer, I can say that my users do not wait and seem to adopt new releases well above the reported rates.

I don't see any data that supports a widespread fear.

Again, does not seem to be the case

trying to fix my 6s. Only problem is my imac refuses to install the update to iTunes. It will finish downloading the update in the app store. Start installing, then just stop and have the update button available again. Its just an endless loop of this.
I had the exact same problem!
Keep trying, it worked for me in the end!

I'm pretty tempted to do it but the bugs still refrain me to be sincere.

I've pretty much installed these updates as long as they become available in the past but for this i'm not that sure, thinking on waiting 2 more firmwares updates before installing ios10.

I've had iPhones since day one and updated on day one of every release. There was a few bad ones but this really wasn't one of them. I've been running on it since the update without issue and without bugs. :)

I don't see any more complaints here which is a very good sign, still i'm planning to wait a few more days

Well i couldn't resist and i installed ios 10 on my 3 Apple devices, including my iphone 6s, i performed clean installations on all of them and all the procedures were flawless for me.

The only thing i didn't like is the new Music interface, fugly and a little confusing, i was seeing all my Apple's purchases despite having disabled Apple music on settings, but a few minutes ago i understood how now this works there are now sections, if i only want to see my downloaded music i need to go to downloads section exclusively to only see those and not all my purchases through the time.

Also i think the new login procedure is a little painful on the ipod touch 6, need to click twice now the home button, once for turning on the device and the second one to enter, i prefer the old method using the swipe gesture.

Well i guess i went a little far regarding the flawlessness...

What one can espect about the raise to wake up new feature on ios 10? By logic less battery life...i bet the thing is turning on and off each time i sit up and down too, i just disabled it hope tomorrow numbers improve.

My son face timed me last eve from his MBP. He updated to 10.02 on his new iPhone 7 and it gave the plugin to iTunes screen and restore. We tried for 2 hours including dfu mode; but nothing will take. He is now without a phone- and nowhere near an Apple Store. Should have never upgraded his 6 that was functioning fine.

iTunes is throwing error codes of 12 and 6. He is using a mbp retina 15, with all updates done, as well as original brand new USB cable from apple. He's in college so it's going to be a week without a phone for him I suppose.

Anyone have any ideas for me to assist?
I set up a call to apple, and suppose I am just going to request a replacement by mail to him.

You should definitely NOT restore if you don't want to lose those notes. If you're having no luck (did you make sure you updated to latest iTunes from today?), the Apple Store people will probably have a better shot since they probably have access to engineers for diagnosing it. If this is stuff you need ASAP, you should demand a sooner appointment since this is Apple's screw-up.

So... After hours on the phone with apple, pulling logs from phone and software engineers looking into it, they told me last night all notes were lost and to try to restore. They were expecting a hardware failure and would have to get it replaced. I attempted to update it with 10.1 ipsw files, 10.0.1 and 9.3.5, none of these worked. Losing all hope, I restored this morning. Worked fine, all notes gone. I reset it again and restored from iCloud backup. I don't know how or why, but my notes were there. I know my notes were not in the cloud, but when I restored from it they reappeared. Weird... but ill take it. I know better than to rely on storage in one place only for something so important. Lesson learned.

Update: 9-28-2016:

Pretty good... 48% adoption in 2 weeks. Seems the fear is in fact not widespread.

Some technology angel was smiling down upon you today. Glad to hear you got your important data back. Now get those in the cloud! I think the easiest way is to go into your local Notes folder, tap Edit, tap Move All, then select a location in the iCloud section you want to store them in.
