My 6s+ OTA update also failed and I'm stuck in recovery mode.

Trying to update/restore via iTunes (lastest version on windows) but it won't seem to download. Just sits there for hours, with the update in the download list but not doing anything. Anyone else had this problem?

Did you do the OTA update very recently, or way earlier when it was first released? I keep hearing the OTA issue has been fixed but if you JUST tried OTA and it failed, then im a little more worried.

This has always happened even before Forstall was fired. Cut the Jobs crap.

Really? I've been an iPhone owner since day 1 and a long time Mac user and never have their been more bugs than post Jobs and Forstall. Never.

When it first landed. I've been trying to recover with iTunes for hours since.

When I hit update in iTunes the update is added to the download list but just sits there.

iPhone 6s Plus updated fine through the new iTunes in Windows. No issues except a scary message in iTunes - Unknown error 37. Took about 45 mins.

Anyway to prevent iOS update installer from auto downloading? I'd like to hold off upgrading the phone for a week or so, until I can be sure that all the dust has settled.

Updated OTA, iPhone 6s+. I am in the middle of a year long court battle and had a years worth of notes stored on the phone, not in the cloud. I know I am an idiot. Have tried updating via iTunes over two different macs and neither will do it. I assume I have lost them. Before I restore and lose them, can anyone think of anything I can do? I called apple, they wanted to send me to an appointment, but not until saturday. I doubt they will do anything different than I have already done.

My 6s got temporarily bricked by upgrading to iOS 10 as well. Well done Apple, great job with your QA as always lately! I guess all your work on new emojis keeping you busy. Remember the times when updates worked without any issues? I almost don't.

Remember the times when ONLY the Combo updates could be installed without issues?

You should definitely NOT restore if you don't want to lose those notes. If you're having no luck (did you make sure you updated to latest iTunes from today?), the Apple Store people will probably have a better shot since they probably have access to engineers for diagnosing it. If this is stuff you need ASAP, you should demand a sooner appointment since this is Apple's screw-up.

The iOS upgrade does not auto update from my experience. Your would need to go to general > software update and choose to do it. (just make sure that you update iTunes and then back up your phone 1st)

Cancel the download and restart. My download speed seemed to increase every time i cancelled and restarted the download

After i update my bricked iPhone 6S with iTunes, its working now without any loose of data. But it says 10.0.1 for iOS version. Is this OK?

I meant to say auto "download", not auto update. I would hate to have several GB's taken up by the installer file when I am not yet ready to install the update. Even if I manually delete the installer, it just auto downloads overnight as soon as I am on WiFi.

No. They still make the very best products. They still have the most amazing support. And Tim Cook is making mo money, mo money, and mo money for Apple and its incredible investors.

I disagree. Lenovo makes the best laptops in the world in my opinion. And Linux is the best operating system.

Anyone downloading iOS 10 getting download times of 19+ hours?

My internet connection is beyond 100Mbps and have nearly a day left to download 2.4gb

Yes. You can stop apps or anything from using Cellular.

Go to settings
Cellular
Unchecked the app store (and any other apps that you do not want to use cellular data)

Yes on Linux. (But that's not for the average user.)

Mac is Unix box. Darwin. You may need to use the man pages for a while to get use to it but it's pretty good. Pretty powerful.

I loled at Linux.

It's kind of ok if your idea of productivity is running Apache web server and using some MySQL databases.

If you want to use actual apps to get stuff done, nothing much has changed since the 90s. Everything looks woefully outdated, is designed by programmers that guarantees a UX disaster, and forget about power tools such as those from Adobe.

If Timmy had any balls, he'd fire execs over this happening yet again this year.
Jobs would have cleaned house.

That's the post of the year, right there, ladies & gentlemen.
Steve blew a gasket over "MobileMe" simply because it tarnished Apple's reputation.
Forstall was shown the door because of some squiggly pictures in "Maps".
These are only software problems.

But this .... This is rendering people's hardware that costs close to $1000 useless.
And no behind-the-scenes scorching of Earth is occurring?
It's like you said: "If Timmy had any balls ...." The thing is, he doesn't.

Just be sure not to say that here!
You'll be called a "troll". You'll be told to look at the profits.
As if Tim Cook, and not Steve's iStuff, had anything to do with that.

2017 better be blow-away, or I've had it with "Cook Era" Apple.

A big fat F You to Apple.

6 hours it's taken me to update my wife's 6S. And because the iCloud backup wouldn't restore after 8 times of trying, it had to be set up as a new phone and therefore she lost the last two weeks of photos/videos of our 9 month old daughter.

Livid would be an understatement.

Really? I'm on my 4th download on iTunes, keeps starting over and giving me error messages.

I wish people would stop arguing about what happened and help those of us who are in a situation, so we can get it fixed. It would be most appreciated.

What are the error messages? Did you update iTunes first?
