How do I access these beta iOS updates? If I understand correctly if I try out a beta update and it is not satisfactory I will be able to reverse to the previous iOS, is that correct?

Will there be any additional risks I should be aware of?
Yes to the latest release version. However, in addition to the article @jhall8 mentioned, you should get a backup beforehand and MOVE it (or archive it if mac) for safe keeping. You will not be able to restore a newer backup (from beta) back to the device if you downgrade it. There are ways to downgrade without loosing data but wouldn't rely on that as full-proof. And of course any new data wont be in the old backup if you ever try to downgrade back but at least you wont have to start from scratch worst case. Again there are unsupported ways to get some of this done but wouldn't rely on it for any important data you may have on your device. Just want you to be aware that there is potential for loosing some data going back and forth between betas and release.

iPhone X pairs Bluetooth perfectly the first time, Contacts replicate...the first time.

Every subsequent pair will not upload Contacts. It'll upload My Number and the first five "A" Contacts.

This means the Recent Calls are not identified correctly.

Caller ID does not show up correctly on the car's screen. You cannot program a favorite or speed dial because there are no Contacts from which to pull the information.

There is no way to use the car's voice commands to start a Bluetooth call because the car cannot see the Contacts.

My LG V30/Nougat works perfectly with the same car, and every other Android device works perfectly when paired to the car's Bluetooth.

See, I don't have a problem with this as long as Apple tells us what's going on.

If there were a section in settings for battery health that would say "Your battery is failing. Performance has been reduced so you can still use your phone, but you should replace your battery as soon as possible." when this happens, I'd be perfectly okay with it.

But no, they hide it from the user. The phone just slows down without explanation, and it took a lot of testing and experimentation by dedicated people to discover this. Damnit Apple, this is a customer service issue. Fix it.
exactly but no they won't let users know about it instead they prefer to keep your device experiencing slowdowns I already been knew it right from start that ios 11 makes devices suffers lags and slowdowns

Did you try CPU Dasher when your battery level is lower (I’m not talking about battery general condition but charge level)? On my iPhone 6 CPU clock is significantly lowered when not close to 100%. And I’m not talking about low power mode...

in low power mode on the iphone 6 slowdowns and lags become more noticeable the device suffers a whole lot of struggles to run and even makes the phone become hotter so i don't see why throttling the device cpu makes the phone works normal

But this stuff wasn't there from the start of iOS 11, it was there from iOS 10.2 days for some affected older devices, and since iOS 11.2 days for affected iPhone 7 devices in addition to those.

So is this beta causing anybody else to randomly have no cell signal at times until restart or just me? Also, random heat ups and lag.

This happened to me the first day I updated to Beta 2. Verizon iPhone 7 Plus. Haven’t seen it happen in a few days.

To add one more data point to the many here so far:

I installed this beta on my X as soon as it became available (to public beta users), so about 4 days ago. During this time, I’ve put the phone through its paces. Performance and battery life are very good, probably the best yet since I got the X in mid-November. No bugs or glitches to report. No random restarts. Works fine with CarPlay, calls work great, navigation, streaming music via Bluetooth, listening with wired headphones via Camera Connector Kit dongle and Dragonfly Red, playing games, streaming video, everything seems to be working as it should.

I’m sorry some of you are having problems with this beta. I hope the next one fixes them.

Battery life is terrible on my 8!

Forgive my basic question here - is your battery life terrible just looking at the % reading? Or is it actually turning off as its running down so quick? I ask because I thought my 6S+ was very bad until I reset the battery % display by letting it turn off having been drained fully and charge it fully thereafter.

Just had a very annoying bug. Went to make a phone call and as soon as it started connecting to the call, the phone went black with the loading circle...respring I guess. The passcode screen came up and the call was still going through. Weird. And it’s annoying because now my battery stats have been reset.

I’ve had this issue quite a few times now when opening the camera from the lock screen on the X. The lock icon stays on the screen. It’s intermittent and no pattern to try and reproduce it.

Can`t install any app from the store, update works well. I press install, then the icon rotates, and then install button appers again. Singing out/it didn`t fix it. iPhone X.

I had this problem also. The solution had something to do with setting/completing two factor authentication

Having a bit of an issue with iOS 11.2.5 beta 2. I noticed when playing music from Music app (not spotify, not apple music), my iPhone X becomes a little warm and battery starts to drain rapidly. Tried charging and now it's taking a longer-than-expected time to fully re-charge (went from 50-57% in 25-30 minutes).

I know it's a Beta and betas are known to attribute to battery life not being optimal but just curious if anyone else is noticing battery life on this beta isn't quite good.

The X has no issues on iOS 11. It’s mostly the older phones which have problems. My 7 Plus was struggling to run iOS 11 without dropping dead at 3PM with zero battery. The X lasts well into 9PM on a single charge.
