Oh man... people are paying for a flawed design. I respect their purchase decisions, but this iPhone ex design is flawed (cough) notch (cough).
Because of this, that line is necessary. Or at the very least, present a splash screen to teach people where to pull CC and where to pull NC first time a user is entering home screen.

I've used Android phones that have a pulldown in the top right corner of the screen in order to access certain settings. Those phones didn't have a notch.
 
I was under the impression stuff like this was for new users rather than people that are familiar with how the OS works. One being there while the other is absent is contradictory either way, just like how CC and NC have completely different interfaces while the method of access is identical. Seems to be typical of Apple lately.


If you’re that new of a user, you probably won’t even know control Center is a thing

Idk much about your android phone but I guess it is not used for accessing critical features.
