I opted not to participate in beta testing for this update. From the posts I've read here in the last weeks/months, iMessages on iCloud was something that was implemented in the betas. Why would they suddenly pull it out right before dropping the GM?

Bummer because I have been waiting for this for a long time ... not to mention it is way overdue.

Two words, "quality" or "reliability". It took Apple 4 years to finally recognize that their iCloud APIs would never work right and to deprecate them. Maybe they are trying to get it right the first time this time. One can only hope, but I don't think they've changed that much. So I don't get my hopes too high.

One has to wonder, if AirPower and iCloud iMessages won't be ready until 11.4 (or at least, not in 11.3), why wouldn't Apple at that point just wait to release them with iOS 12?

That would make them a major selling point of iOS 12 along with the new phones.

Did people really expect AirPlay 2 to return when we are at beta 6

Exactly.

And similarly, I am on the betas and Messages on iCloud is still here. Just like you don’t add something at the last minute, pulling something is very risky too.

All the clueless nattering here is just bizarre. All because someone went dumpster diving on a server and found something...we don’t know what exactly.

Maybe everyone should breathe and consider he found the release notes for the version of 11.3 that’s on the iPad, which by design may have a subset of features which excludes messages in iCloud until everyone else gets it. That is the most reasonable assumption.

AML? Congratulations, your phone can now officially secretly send your location to the authorities, and it is good for you!

Can this **** be turned off? How obvious can an NSA backdoor be?

I don't want this. It's an all around horrible idea.

With that attitude you’re gonna be in for one hell of a disappointment when iOS 12 comes since it will be mainly a bug fix release.

Or, it’s a continual building process off iOS 11 and we don’t know exactly what iOS 12 will have to offer yet. I wouldn’t say Apples focus with iOS 12 is strictly ‘bug fixes.’

The pace of iOS developments compared to Android resemble the pace of iOS transitions in maps of 1 city a month compared to googles 1 whole country a month. And don’t get me started on Siri, Macs in general or other hard- and software offerings.

"Fixes a problem that can cause the time and notifications to disappear on the locked screen."

I'll be happy if this one is actually finally put to bed. It has plagued me despite trying all the workarounds (which help for like a day) and restoring my phone multiple times.

What would be a major selling point? Last years promised features?

So I’m assuming the messages in the cloud was still included the last beta of MacOS that came out 2 days ago?

It reminds me of the gaming community. There are many fan websites dedicated to mining PTRs (public test realms) where any extracted data is often considered concrete evidence that a feature is imminent, whether it be from an alpha or beta. Then people get all in an uproar when something isn't released, despite there being no official word from the company.

You deliberately left out the other part of my post, which provided context for the reasoning. If 11.4 doesn't release until late summer, iOS 12 will be right around the corner.

You'd think Apple -- one of the most valuable companies in the entire world -- would have enough money and employees to fix the bugs in all of these features that are still in beta for what seems like an entire year.

It takes 9 months to make a baby regardless of $$ or manpower (so to speak). Patience...

Congratulations, Apple. Your first iOS release that has required a .4 update.

Maybe check iOS 12 a little better.

Why is everyone so hot on imessages in the cloud? I don't see the point.

They love to complain that currently if they delete a message on their iPhone, it's still there on their Mac. iMessages in iCloud will get rid of this and keep everything in sync. That's about it. Seriously, they cry non-stop about it because they don't like that they can't delete a message in a single place. LIFE WILL END WITHOUT THIS!
