iOS 11 beta 10 — Changes and Issues

Curious are you testing with your phone plugged in or free standing. My processors are totally to over 100% almost continuously over an hour after the update, but as soon as I unplug it they go down to less than 20%.

When my phone is plugged in to power it is far ‘jerkier’ than it is when its not.

Hey, it would be immensely more helpful if you would add a line comparing the scores to previous betas, or just put two images - one from prior beta and one after the new one. Any sort of comparative data would be so much better.

I'd normally not ask this, but weeding through hundreds of posts per beta thread is not a pain I intend to inflict on my darling butt.
 
So first time trying out iOS 11 on iPhone 7 Plus and its horrible compared to iOS 10.3.3. There is stutter in the 3DT menu and I immediately noticed the delay on pressing the home button. It was instant on iOS 10.3.3. Not upgrading to iOS 11 next week and keeping my iPhone on 10.3.3 till I get the iPhone 8. I am not falling for Apple's planned obsolescence staregy

I tried beta 9 on my iPad mini 4 and it was pretty laggy. I put it back on iOS 10.3.3 and it's so smooth that it makes it way more enjoyable to use. I wouldn't mind if apps just took a split second longer to load, but to see the animations judder and stutter really irks me.

Yes the stuttering animation gets on my nerves. People still confuse stutter with lag. Lag is completely different issue all together.

In its current state, Apple should stop advertising ProMotion display on 2017 iPad Pros. It is totally inconsistent and does not run at 120 fps all the time. It was perfect on iOS 10. Then why the hell they break their own code in iOS 11 baffles me.

BTW the word ProMotion gives me a good laugh everytime I read it,

They also have Metal 2 which I’m guessing they are waiting is 100% finalized before they make the animations using the Metal framework.

I agree with you. I just think that 10 betas is just too much. But I must believe that they will solve this and other small issues that still persist. Coding animations is just a pain in the butt and I, myself, don’t like doing that, just when it’s strictly necessary.

Oh!

It was connected to my battery bank when I initially tested. Been disconnected for around 15 minutes, I just tested it out for you - I can happily say that to me the jerks, while there, are still far more controlled than on beta 9. Definitely "snappier" 3D Touch on iPhone 7.

I do not know how to figure out processing stats as I never cared on the iPhone, so can't give you that otherwise would have given a more meaningful analysis. 🙂

Also, the phone now heats up considerably upon restart. Cools down after a while.

The release notes says under Settings Resolved Issues:
  • Storage graph and size information in Settings now updates correctly. (32295963)
However, this doesn't seem to be the case. When I went from PB 3 to 4, it had deleted all of my downloaded Apple Music, signed me out of App Store and iTunes store, and signed me out of Apple Music and turned off iCloud Music Library.

However, the previously downloaded music still showed under iPhone Storage as Media. So, I re-enabled Apple Music, went into Phone Storage settings and removed all of the downloaded music in one go, just to start fresh.

However, now when I open iPhone Storage, the graph will show me as using almost all the device space as I previously was (I was using about 55 out of 64 GB with all of the music on there on PB3), but it says at the top using 33.8 out of 64. However, I can tap on one of the sections at the bottom (say, Photos), and then immediately go back, and the graph will update itself to show what I assume is the correct reading.

The two attachments were taken one after the other after doing the above. Something with the storage graph is still wonky.

It's posts like this that shows me you have no clue how software development works and you should just stay far away from any beta let alone criticizing Apple for something that you have no clue about.

I have the beta running on an iPhone 6S. If I turn the phone to landscape, the scientific calculator appears.

Still has the repeated arithmetic function bug though as mentioned above (e.g can't do "2+3+4" without waiting a while before pressing + after the 3. Logged it in Feedback.
 
From the sound of it, it's like 'one step up two steps back' .....scary 😀

Will be fixed though.....eventually.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm keeping my iPhone 7 on 10.3.3 as well as long as I have it which will be at least another year. The slow response on the home button alone would drive me nuts! I love how instant it has been and every time I use an iPhone/iPad with the physical button I can't stand that half second lag before things get moving! No way I'm going back to that with my iPhone 7!

As this isn’t the GM im guessing there’s still a lot of logging and debug code running which will be disabled in the GM.

Therefore I’d expect some performance improvements even if there are her bug fixes in the GM.

We'll all I can say is that it worked as you are preordering an iPhone x edition. Can't wait for the public release of iOS 11, my two 5s are now flying fast.
