Yet Apple Maps still can’t locate 25% of common businesses, streets or road closures in the US. Too busy focusing on hyper focused things when they’ve missed the big picture.

Yeah, even in my country Apple Maps aren't very reliable when it comes to businesses.
You know how every day Maps suggest you the road to take in order to get home? It always prints the name of a non existing shop located at my in laws address. There isn't a shop there, not in their street, so it isn't a number mismatch the shop is nowhere near. And on my street the businesses are reported, but they're placed randomly so Maps don't have the exact position of each number.
Google maps is way more accurate, and it doesn't report the non existing shop.

I use Apple Maps only if I want to have direction on my wrist, otherwise Google maps is the safest choice. I wouldn't say Apple Maps are bad, but they're not superior to Google so I don't see why I should use them

Surprised Atlanta hasn’t made the airport list. I mean it’s not like they are the busiest airport or anything
ORD would like a word with you.

O’Hare isn’t the world’s busiest airport in terms of passenger volume. Not even close. ATL has had that distinction since 2000: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic

I admit, I'm surprised. I live by ORD, and sometimes hear that it's the busiest airport. Kind of surprising to see Atlanta not just top the list, but by such a large margin. Does anyone know where I can find the rankings by number of flights in & out rather than total # of passengers?

Indoor mapping should be super easy. Every person with an iPhone has all the tools. People visit the mall. You ask them to film with AR mapping out the place online. An online database shows the mall being mapped out and eventually shows what areas still need to be mapped. Text recognition labels the stores. Boom. Every indoor mall and airport in one year.

Google maps does this weird thing where it will send me off a freeway on a small road through three lights and back to the freeway because it calculates I would save 23 seconds or 15 cm. Have not used in awhile because of that.

I still remain surprised that a wikimaps has not risen up to beat them both. When Apple or google says there is no road but I am driving on a road there should be a feature to create new road. Does not need to go live but if enough people do it or say a business is not there eventually it gets corrected.

It was very handy when I used it a local mall, I was able to find the store and park closest to the store.

Apple’s website must be out of date. I’m getting indoor maps for several malls in White Plains, which is outside of NYC. Also some in New Jersey.

I really wonder how things get on Apple maps. It seems, where I live, every Starbucks is on maps but other national chains in the same shopping center aren't. Can companies like Starbucks pay to make sure every store in in the maps? Every Starbucks but some Walmarts aren't, some Home Depot, etc. Just strange.

I would be surprised if Apple had people sitting in a room searching for businesses to enter. Far more likely that the businesses need to submit their information. Businesses enter /update their business info on Google.... which aids in web search results (and presumably Google Maps). That would explain why some chains show up and others no. Management at some will be more tech savy and proactive than at others.

they should concentrate on updating roads more often... sometimes it takes more than a year to get updates... compared to Google Maps which usually is updated within a month, this is not very good.

I linked an article above in the thread. Depending on the year ORD has been busiest by flight operations.

It does go both ways though. While watching the news in San Diego about the Lilac Fire they showed a new neighborhood that burned. They used Google Maps to show the area but pointed out since the homes were so new they were not on the map yet. Apple Maps had not only the new are it has the homes.

So it really does depend on where and what.

At least with google maps, you can report problems... and this gets fixed faster that Apple Maps from my experience.
I did a test... they added an exit on they highway last year n’est my home. It took 2-4 weeks for google maps to get updated... it took a few months for Apple to finally update even after I’ve reported the problem a few times with government source to support the change.
