Probably a lot. I'm talking issues such as alignment and padding of text. Easy stuff that hasn't been fixed throughout iOS 11 beta. What software as popular as iOS do you know of that doesn't take care of that in beta?
All kinds. Things like that are generally trivial bugs that don’t really make it up on the list of priority for intitial releases and often ones that follow shortly after them.

When have you really seen bug free software in the world of consumer (or even professional) computing?

You're not getting it. I/We're not talking about bugs, normal bugs that surface and can only reasonably be expected to surface once it is released on mass - same with all software, and all consumer products - problems arise that couldn't have been expected to have been caught during a testing stage.

We're talking about very, very basic sloppiness and errors that didn't used to come out after beta 3/4, nevermind GM. Things that my 5 year old son could spot. Things that if another company did it we'd be sitting on our high horses on these forums laughing until the cows came home. Apple fans, after this iOS 11 release, no longer have that argument in their pocket.

I just have to agree with you!

Things that are around in all kinds of software. It’s interesting how much attention is paid to Apple and the imaginary bar it’s all held up to while forgetting or overlooking that all kinds of previous releases had issues (releases that are now looked up to and praised as being great) or all kinds of issues that various other OS and even less complex software have with all kinds of releases, and especially initial ones for major new versions.

When something as trivial as alignment, padding, and frame rates being dropped don't make the list of priorities, that's a problem. That's the argument we're making. EVERYTHING should be a priority. That's how a lot of people remember Apple being ran.

That’s not how things work in business. It would be nice if they did, just as it would be nice if there was world peace, but reality is reality. People seem to remember all kinds of interesting things and yet looking through even just the forums here shows that there were all kinds of complaints and issues about all kinds of things coming out from Apple even many years ago. Interesting how that reality works.

Well, I guess I'm not persuading you, but that's fine, we've both had our say. What we definitely CAN agree on though is that EVERY single year people say the latest iOS is trash, then the next year, the same people say they are staying on that iOS because it's perfect and the new one is trash. I'm not one of those, I like iOS 11, I use it and want to use it, and I don't have a problem with the normal hiccups, I simply don't believe it's a finished product. So I'm certainly not saying there's never been issues before, just feel it's different this time. But each to their own opinion!

You described it fairly well, which basically shows that it’s not that different this time.

Jobs actually cared about the experience. What we have here is an accountant who wants money whichever way it comes and doesn't give a flying **** about design or performance. As long as people are forced to buy the $999 iphone by crippling older devices that's all he cares about. Moar profits.

Asking for a fix to simple issues is not equal to world peace, no. World peace is impossible to fix. A header not aligning with a search bar is a very easy and simple fix.

Stop defending this. You're not helping anyone.

That wasn’t what was being compared there.

iOS 6 Final.
Ah that’s why the iOS 6 forum here basically has no complaints about iOS 6, rite?

iOS 11 is the best mobile operating system I have ever used. There are so many subtle touches and enhancements that make for a delightful experience.

I have no time for the critics. They don't get it.

If you were following posts on here, you would have lowered your iOS 11 expectations in the phone and not felt like this.

Critics don't get get what? That there are lots of sloppy things that should never have made it out in a product release? That has nothing to do with new features, it has to do with what has become a repeating theme - a lack of attention to detail on things.

Vista, anyone?
Vista's "issues" were a different story other Apple thinking that ********ting their way through an iOS release for kicks is ok. I still use Vista and I have never had problems with it ever since I started using it in 2008. There's a huge difference between ahead of it's time, and straight up laziness.

While many people have had and have Vista issues. Sounds similar?

Steve Jobs is dead. Steve Jobs approved the idea of Apple Maps which is Apple's most spectacular failure, he also approved iTunes Ping! which is his 2nd most spectacular failure. he also approved Cards, his 3rd most spectacular failure and finally MobileMe, his 4th most spectacular software failure

It's funny how everyone is always saying "If Steve were still around...".

Steve was a brilliant innovator, but things were far from perfect when Steve was running the show. Lots of software AND hardware issues across the board with Apple products. Remember the iPhone "coma" mode in the Fall of 2009? Where tons of people's phones would go into a "coma" (basically appearing to be powered off) out of the blue - sometimes for many minutes/hours at a time and there was NOTHING you could do about it? I had that happen to me a couple of times!

Where is this topic supposed to go? Are you posting so that others who agree with you make you feel better about your issues with the OS? Are you posting to convince others who do not agree that opinions can be wrong and their opinion is? What is your endgame here? Do you think Apple engineers and senior management will read this thread and go "wow, if only we had consulted this dude first"?

Or is this just discussion for the sake of discussion?

It's an iOS discussion forum, so we're discussing iOS.

Good Lord, the entire point of a public forum is to discuss things.

Should we question your post? Why are you questioning a fellow poster for being critical of Apple? Are you insecure and secretly wondering whether you bought the right product and feel the need to lash out to validate your choice? Perhaps you are in an unhappy relationship or are not happy with your job and want to share the misery?

This reminds me of the iOS 7 release. There were countless visual glitches / design inconsistencies that I couldn't believe made it through, especially as a follow-up to the aesthetically consistent iOS 6.

Hey, but I'm sure is iOS 13 is going to be the one to rule them all!
