Yes. Just like every single year. Anything reported now probably won't be implemented until 11.0.1 as production of new phones have begun.

The problem is how long it may take to actually fix a bug.
 
But there appears a logical fallacy. Assuming they already have an inhouse GM for seeding on the new phones, then these Betas have no meaning for public release of 11. These Betas would then be useful only for 11.1.

Why not 11.0.1? 11.0.2? 11.0.3? I don't see a fallacy at all. We are already coming up to beta 5. Obviously things now that are reported wouldn't make their way into 11.0. Its not enough time. Issues from 10.0 weren't fixed until 10.2.

I meant a version later than 11, not specifically 11.1.

I am guessing whether it will get addressed. It was reported around June end. But no change seen so far.

I reported the Safari Keyboard bug in iOS 10.0 Beta 2 (first week of July). It wasn't fixed until December. Its just how things go.

Spoken like a developer! As a software developer, I can attest to this. 99 bugs, fixed one bug, 199 more bugs!

I really doubt that. That way of thinking about a GM is a bit dated.

To give an example. Previously software often needed to be put into some physical form and delivered in that form together with the product. It could be a CD-ROM, or an USB stick. That process takes time, and thats why the GM needed to be ready some time in advance. This is no longer the case. The software comes preinstalled and upon first launch it can be updated to the latest build over the internet. Most of the times that actually happens with iPhones. They are shipped with iOS XX.00 but when delivered there is already an XX.00.1 update ready for the device. I remember this was the case for my iPhone 6 back then.

Secondly. From when Apple presents the device there is often 10-14 days until the devices can be bought. They are of course already in production, but they will not be loaded with an iOS before the time around the presentation and then be in transit the last 10-14 days before they go on sale. And like I said in the beginning, the iOS 11 version they'll get shipped with, might not have as high/new a build number as what defined as the final GM build, because it doesn't really matter. It will just be updated on first boot over the internet.
If we again take the iPhone 6 and iOS 9 as an example - The first iOS 9 beta came at July 9th 2015 (WWDC) and the presentation of iPhone 6 was on September 9th. That is just around 90 days, but the GM build of iOS 9 was first released 100 days after WWDC

So there is plenty of time for more bug fixing and beta builds. Don't worry 😉

True, but I'd also like to point out that issues with notifications are probably higher priority than the subtle keyboard bug.

Apple would receive so many complaints if that were to be in the final release. I don't think it'll take that long to be fixed.

I would hardly call it a subtle keyboard bug. It entirely changed the use of Safari for the 6 months.

Look at the last 10 years of iOS betas. Everything I said is completely backed up by the facts.

So going by this, the event will be either the 4th or the 12th do you think? I guess I want to know so I have an idea of exactly how many days there are left. Man, I feel like such a sad case waiting my life away for this darn iPhone 8 to finally be unveiled. I haven't been this anticipated for an iPhone in a long while.

The event will be 6th or 12th but most likely 6th.

Thanks! I was hoping it'd be the sooner date. I know you're just guessing given the beta release history but that is reassuring. Just checked my calendar and the sixth is on a Wednesday, then did some quick research and found every iPhone unveiling since the 5 (with the exception of the 5S and 6) was also on a Wednesday. So I'm guessing you're right with the 6th, and didn't you mean the 13th? Unless they move it back to a Tuesday like with the 5S and 6. Either way, not long to wait at all now!

Edit: Just so this stays related to this thread, I'm even more curious to see how iOS 11 coincides with the 'premium' iPhone rather than the phone itself. There's still plenty to look forward to with it that we haven't even seen yet!

Yes I did read your post, but there are inaccuracies about it. The GM for iOS 9 came out September 9th, 7 days before the public release of iOS 9. Just like every year, the GM is released the day of the event. There is always a gap between the final build and the GM. This is because the GM is completed shortly after the final beta is seeded and it's loaded on new devices. In addition to that, iOS 9 was introduced June 8th, not July 9th.

The events are always a Tuesday in September, unless it's the week of Labor Day, then it's the Wednesday. So it's the 6th or 12th and not the 13th. Hope that helps.

Ah ok, I didn't realise that. I wondered why the 5S and 6 were Tuesday and the others weren't. Labour Day is in May here (UK) so got confused with your post at first and was about to correct you. Lol. Anyway, thanks for your quick responses!

On the other hand, if I'm honest, I didn't know what you were referring to and had to look it up, I'm sure there were many who didn't notice or really care about this glitch. (I do remember it now, I found it odd but not a big deal) I'm sure it was pretty annoying for those who did though. I guess it's hard to gauge how many are really affected by a particular glitch.

Still, notifications being broken doesn't really have a workaround like switching the keyboard manually.

It's just the way it is

No GM has been less than a week.

EVERY final beta (before the GM) prior to iOS10 has been a long period:

iOS9 41 days
iOS8 44 days
iOS7 34 days
iOS6 44 days
iOS5 42 days

This is keeping in mind iOS10 was a bit different as it had 8 betas before GM; the highest prior was 6 betas going back to iOS6 (iOS5 had 7 betas then GM).

iOS10 was a bit odd, beta 4 was 8 days, 5 was 6 days, 6 was 4 days, and 7 was 7 days. Our beta 4 now, iOS10 was already at beta 6 at this time of last year looking at the graph. I think this was because of major issues with some of the releases.

I wouldn't expect that for 11 though. I suspect we'll get 5 tomorrow, and then a 6, possibly a 7 (depending if 6 is 1 or 2 weeks and when the keynote is), then GM at the keynote in early Sept. Keeping in mind even iOS10 final beta before GM was 12 days, so there may not be time for 2 more betas this month after tomorrow.

Yep and in addition, iOS 10 GM was 10.0.1 and not 10.0. Original launch day iPhones shipped with 10.0.0 and had to be updated right away. That's why iOS 10 is the outlier of the previous 10 years.
 
I hope these 2 weeks would compensate, and we will get a better experience than previous build...My only concern is the heating problem 🙂
