I have a similar issue with my xS Max - doesnt drop but it cuts in and out if I put the phone where I need to see maps/pokemon go. This never happened with my 6s plus or 8plus. Its really annoying. I need to keep the phone back further in the car where I cannot see the flipping screen.

Strange. Have not had any issues with mine in my 2018 Camaro, wife’s equinox or my daughters Malibu.

Not sure if anybody who has streaming bluetooth audio issues has noticed it but when there is a dropout, "song~1, Song~2, Song~3, etc." will appear instead of the actual track name.

It's completely random and doesn't stay like that - I can go back to main menu and browse my music again and it will load and play correctly. It's like the file system is corrupt. I have tried to delete all the music on my iPhone and reload it but it didn't fix it. I did a complete clean restore and still no fix. Never happened with iOS 11 so it is absolutely an iOS 12 issue.

I had a constant disconnect and reconnect problem with my 7 plus ios11 in my Acura TSX. my new xs max... 0 problems, perfect every time..actually connects faster upon entry to the car too and maybe its just me but seems like SQ is better.

I’ve also got an Audi - XS Max issue. Very frustrating. People can’t hear me half the time. Switching speaker and back to Bluetooth will temporarily fix but it always drops again.

XS here having issues with Bluetooth staying connected to my 2018 Honda Accord, too. It’ll stay connected for 15-20 mins and then disconnect itself for a couple seconds before re-connecting

I had a similar problem with my Nissan Murano and 2 different Maxes. The phone would connect fine most of the time but not all of the time. I would say 2 out of 10 times, I would have go through pairing mode again to get them to connect.

Try updating your Accord software either via a hot spot or off your WiFi.

I have a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and an iPhone Xs Max. I use bluetooth every time I get in and I have no issues. I listen to audio books using the audible app a lot. I use the music app too. I have had no issues. I get in and it connects and starts to play what ever I last had it doing.

I guess until I read this thread I did not know there was a problem. I never had an issue with my X or 7+ either.

It sucks that you're going through this too, but at least there's someone else with the same exact combination as me and having the same problem.

Apple reached out to me, and they're well aware of the problem and their team is looking into it.

Hi Stephen,

I have just come across this thread. I drive a 2016 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and have been experiencing Bluetooth drop outs (that are temporary) but very annoying when it happens. I mainly use the Bluetooth for calling so if I had radio on and a call comes through, I’d accept the call and then the audio from the radio would come blaring through the speakers and interrupt me mid sentence.

This has been happening since I had my iPhone X 11.4, I am now on an iPhone XS Max 12.1 and unfortunately has not fixed the issue.

Interestingly, the phone functions perfectly when using it via CarPlay just unreliable over Bluetooth. Has anyone tried CarPlay and confirmed if it is still happening?

Apple Tier 2 Engineers are following my case closely providing weekly logs and videos. Each time it happens I have to hold down power + volume up + volume down to trigger a log for the technicians. Hopefully we will get a resolution for this shortly. It has been over 5 weeks since I opened the case and we last spoke on Thursday night.

I’ll keep you guys updated.

I have an iPhone Xs Max and I have the same issues. I will be curious to see what the apple engineers come up with. I drive a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. I use CarPlay most of the time as Bluetooth has proven to be unreliable.

I just updated and I’m still having connection issues. This is disappointing.
I got my iPhone XS Max in September. Both talk and media connected to Bluetooth without issue in my Kia Optima until I updated to 12.1. I can connect to Bluetooth to talk, but cannot connect media/music anymore.

My daughter has the XS and has the same issue. We have reset everything in the phone and car, including forgetting the connection to the car and re-adding the phones.

Super frustrating.

Story of my life right now.

Apple engineers called through yesterday wanting to install a profile on my device to log the bug better. I’ve since sent those files into them. They also asked for my VIN # of my car to try and chase it down.

[doublepost=1544718176][/doublepost]If anyone finds that any update to iOS12 resolves the problem of distorted music playback that the original installation of iOS12 introduced -- or if anyone finds an altogether different solution -- I hope he/she will post it here. I'm still using 11.4 for as long as possible until I hear otherwise. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

Just an update, this issue is STILL going on. I had the car back at Mercedes they’ve 100% eliminated the car being the problem. I have a 256GB iPhone XS Max and calls were dropping out from Bluetooth and then reconnecting seconds later. We tried another iPhone XS Max 64GB running 12.3.1 and her phone was fine for over an hour. Apple again replaced my IPhone XS Max saying that it must just be conflicting with something in my backup. So I did an advanced replacement (I have both iPhone XS and brand new iPhone XS Max with me). I set up as new phone did not copy any data across. Put my sim into the the new phone. First call drop out!

At this point I had given up. I now have two iPhone XS Max (one I need to return) both doing the same thing. Until.... I wake up to see iOS 12.4 is released. I instantly update my existing phone (with all my data) to 12.4 and its now 5 days of consistent use not a single dropout.

I am thinking since I have this brand new replacement on older firmware, I’ll do a video showing the issue with it dropping out and then it being resolved in 12.4. I wonder why they made no mention of any Bluetooth fixes as this is quite a big step forward.

Glad to hear the 12.4 update helped! Crazy to hear that the problem went on for so long though. I had constant connectivity problems with 2 different Maxes last fall in all ways - cellular, data, WiFi and Bluetooth. With mine the issue with Bluetooth was that 50% of the time, the Max wouldn’t connect with my car or earbuds. I would have to unpair and re-pair in order to get the phone to connect.
