We all know 1-channel ECG is just a feature not a real medical device.
But let us step into poetry:
"they don't let you play, you don't need to pay"

I run a dev version of 5.2 on my watch and hoping it would work....but alas no....suppose will have to wait for the full release version to enable it

Where is wOS 5.2? I though it would launch today?

AirPods page states watchOS 5.2 is required, so I wonder why they didn't release it yesterday. People will start receiving their new AirPods today and it'd be bad to experience problems while switching from the iPhone to the Watch.
As for the news, I'd be happy to try ECG in my country but I didn't buy a series 4 for that reason, so even if I'll have to wait it isn't a big deal.

The page states either iOS 12.2 or watchOS 5.2 is required. So I'm guessing they can postpone watchOS 5.2 to whenever, since iOS 12.2 is out and the AirPods thus supported by that.

What I'm wondering is how this will affect the availability of the ECG feature in Switzerland. Not part of the EEA, but CE certified goods can be sold without additional regulatory approval. Yet I'm not sure how this applies to "medical devices" and whether Switzerland's regulatory body (Swissmedic) needs to approve it...
EDIT: After some researching, medical devices approved in the EU can be sold in Switzerland without further approval, so fingers crossed!

Hoping to see Canada included as well... The sensor has been useless on my wrist....
You can currently use the sensor to improve heart rate readings in the heart rate app. Just place your finger on the sensor once the app is loaded.

I bet this is a bug, or somebody screwing up. No way this will release soon in the UK. I look forward to being pleasantly surprised but I doubt it.

You're right, I thought it was iOS 12.2 AND watchOS 5.2 but if only one of the two is required they can postpone the release. It isn't the first time they release major updates to iOS and macOS but watchOS isn't included.

That's a good thing. Things should be released when the relevant regulatory bodies approve it, not when Apple say so.

Correct. I wonder if the approval process is something that can easily leak so we know in advance

Good, now all the complaining about US-only release can stop. Wonderful.

This is merely one feature fixed, there is still plenty of other features not released world wide which customers have paid for.
I wonder if an american would keep their BMW if it turned out that the backseat is a feature to be installed in the future...?

That's a nonsensical comparison. Also, you didn't pay for the feature. You paid for the watch knowing that it didn't have the feature.

We’ll find out shortly but I doubt it’s that straight forward. One of the touted new features is easier hand-off between devices. I would expect to need to update the software for both devices involved in the hand-off before getting that benefit.

So, I am sure they will work but not be as slick as they can be until WatchOS is also updated.

In terms of the wording on the site, that’s just to stop people complaining that they need to have the latest version of WatchOS when they don’t actually own a watch...

It also showed up in the Netherlands. Interesting to see which comes first for me.. Also picking up new Airpods 2019 today

I run 5.2 developer latest versions 16T5225a on my watch , it no ECG app available (region - UK)

I can confirm that it has shown up in the health app for me in Sweden. Do we dare to hope for the update today?

It's closing in.

Here in Demmark, Telenor will start selling Watch Series 4 on Friday, offering eSIM as well from the same day.

I currently have a Telenor subscription on my iPhone XS here, and when opening my Watch app and checking the network status, it says I just need to update my watch to be able to use eSIM functionality.

So, any day it seems.

Just out of curiosity, does Telenor offer visual voicemail in Denmark?

AWS3 here, I was tempted to upgrade to AWS4 but will wait until ECG release in Canada.

Well, i didn't buy the S4 because of the ECG, i knew it wasn't gonna be available in Canada on launch day, or even when they relased it to US only users. But it sure would be nice to be able to use it at some point. We had to wait 1.5 years for Apple Pay - but some are still waiting for that.
