While I enjoy some of the concepts... visually? No thank you lol. That was not an attractive looking OS.

This looks awesome but way too much innovation at once for Apple, Tim Cook’s head would explode

Quite like the idea of being able to choose ISO etc in Camera mode without having to revert to a third party app.

Some great ideas there; is/was there an app that has something similar to the AR concept? Think it was on Samsung phones at one time?
Legitimate question, in IPhone camera settings you don't have manual mode to adjust ISO and other settings? My last 2 LG phone's, the V20&V30 both had that feature and more. Tbh, using the manual settings, the V30s can take the best picture of any phone currently Imvho.

Looks pretty cool. Is it sad that out of all of that the only thing that made me think “no way Apple will do that” was the customization part?

Hopefully Apple put this much thought into iOS12. Because iOS11 (especially on iPhone X) seemed like an afterthought.

I wouldn't hold my breath that all of this, or any of it, will turn up in iOS 12. some of the little things like the notifications perhaps but the camera and the AR stuff is a bit more complex and might be more iOS 13 stuff when more folks are likely to be using the X series iPhones (which will have the tech needed).

but overall I do think that most of these ideas are things already on the table and the rendering isn't as over the top as some concept videos.

the only other thing I would add is that I won't be shocked if the iPhone X.3 (or whatever it's called) has a new AR headset to go with it. something more akin to the SnapGlasses than the Google Glass, using forced perspective displays and either a camera that can't record or the system will have some kind of iBeacons companion for businesses to turn off filming inside their walls (they need to do something to push iBeacons). if Apple is really environmentally aware they will even figure out a way to do some kind of movement based charging and/or solar in the side pieces or such. This headset will of course a couple of years later be the basis for a VR headset companion that will be a thinner, prettier version of the Oculus Go blah blah

there's some very bare bones, rather imprecise adjustments you can make. it would be nice to be able to fine tune things although if they could work with some better low light and maybe plenoptic systems it might be something that could be done 'in post'. or even better do all of it (the better hardware and the better software).

Dude, what is wrong with You? It is an imagined concept. If you think you can point out so many "errors" why don't you do something better?
I assume you’re talking about my post and you neglected to quote me.

I check concept videos on YouTube often for a laugh, normally because many of them are outlandish and/or atrociously designed. This one has a good mix of both.

Apple would never do anything close to this, and I listed quite a few reasons why.

I really hope they bring the dark mode, and the volume box moved up into top of the phone. My 2 most useful features.

Some of the ideas aren’t too bad. But it looks absolutely atrocious and some of the execution is just awful. Here’s a list of errors/questionable choices I was able to pick out:
  • “The world’s most advanced operating system finally caught up.” So is it the most advanced or not? “Caught up” implies it’s even.
  • The skew animation at 0:11 looks beyond fake. You don’t want static items on-screen in a video usually, but it’d have been better off here.
  • Magic additional bezels appear at 0:13.
  • What’s up with the lock screen? Did we forget what padding is?
  • The padlock at 0:16 is unlocked but the text at the bottom says “Swipe up to unlock.”
  • The high and low temperatures in the weather widget to the left of the clock are next to unreadable even after we’re zoomed in closer to the phone.
  • Why should I have to tap a button to expand my notifications out of the “Notification Hub”?
  • What do we really get out of having notifications sent when an iMessage contact is typing? Snapchat does this (unreliably, I might add), and it’s obnoxious.
  • Letter spacing is different between the two Messages notifications at 0:28.
  • New gestures. What does swiping up from the center do that swiping up from the left or right bottom corners can’t? Are they combined into one? If so, why?
  • How are these new gestures communicated to the user?
  • Why is there a battery percentage icon right next to the battery in the status bar?
  • Why on Earth are the clock/weather/battery widgets arranged differently depending on which gesture is used?
  • No chance the camera would be in use constantly on the lock screen. It’d kill the battery in a heartbeat.
  • This matrix of controls at the bottom of the camera app is atrociously organized and, for most users, wildly unnecessary.
  • “Verticle” home screen? I get that not everyone’s a great speller, but this video was published with that mistake?
  • iOS isn’t going to allow users to change the app icon shape for myriad reasons, but if that did happen, why require users to enable it to get the slider? Why not just have the slider snap to the default?
  • What are the status bar customization options that also won’t happen? They’re never shown.
  • The waveform in Apple Music is hilariously bad. One of the core concepts in Apple’s HIG is deference, and that is not deferent. It draws my eyes away from the main content of the screen.
  • Dark mode looks…not that different from not-dark mode in the system UI except for the apps shown.
Yet some of the people complimenting this have almost certainly complained at some point about Apple not paying enough attention to detail in QC. Goodness.

It’s just a concept... and while it does has some flaws, It doesn’t merit the nit pickiness in your post.

The overall design change is very nice. Complaining about a specific gesture being used and widgets rearranged is ridiculous.

I don’t mean to be demeaning towards your view with dark mode, I just don’t see Apple venturing on this path, this has been the most requested feature for iOS for years and it’s never happened. I’m not saying it can’t, but I just don’t believe Apple shares that same view as other operating systems do. I think smart invert is as close as we are going to get to dark mode in my opinion.

Its just a concept not a finished product lol Some really good, original ideas in there. Nice work!!

Gosh, this is a bit OTT. It is very easy to criticise but I wouldn’t be able to produce anything close to this. Can you?

I would add an AR switch to camera app, not in the Notification Center.

Overall, I expect this to be on an Android, because as we can see, Apple doesn’t go “features wild” in recent years.

Dark theme and customizations and manual camera setting would be peachy.
Add multiple users for iPad and many people would be more than happy

It's interesting as a student level project. I doubt Apple has a shortage of iOS ideas internally though. The difference is that they actually have to consider the software development side of things and what the priorities are. Generating a graphic promo video is a superficial exercise in comparison.

Yea I completely agree with you. I just thought they might add it since we have the oled displays now. Where the dark would actually help us save battery vs the white.

While I agree with your general sentiment, I think concept videos should be there to bring a well though out concept to life, rather than to look pretty and be impractical if actually implemented. Mac Story's iOS 11 concept from last year is an example of a good concept video imo because each of the interactions and workflows are well thought out to match real world usage.

I like it, adds some freshness but still has the Apple feel to it, nice clean design. Just please add a landscape view for the Music app.
