Really?

I mean, ... really?
To say new emojis is a big draw is a huge stretch.
I think maybe you fell for postbait.
It's great...no reason not to update.
I can think of only one: workflows. I have the Download YouTube workflow which I use frequently to snag clips. My understanding is that this workflow will no longer function as a shortcut under iOS 12 (all current workflows go away on iOS 12 install). If someone tells me that I can somehow reinstall it (or how I can recreate a working version de novo) I’ll upgrade.

There are so many emojis now that I don't even know how people navigate them all or remember them. Everytime I accidentally hit the button and bring up all the different options, it's just an endless sea. Maybe young people use them a lot? I rarely see emojis beyond the usual smiley face or something like that.

They should have added search functionality, same as they have on the Mac. The orange text replacement isn’t as useful. A number of 3rd party keyboards have it fwiw

These numbers are always meaningless considering Apple stops signing older versions as quickly as they do. It might be impressive if Apple gave you the option.

They have some meaning to developers, given that that's who and what those numbers are there for.

Should see an uptake in adoption rate with iOS 12 as now updates are automatically installed by default. Most will be updated overnight without having to do a thing.

Are the automatic updates toggled ON by default? Could be wrong but if I remember correctly, user has to toggle that ON for updates to be installed automatically.

Can’t wait to get to usin’ these new emojis. So much feelings to share.

I'm sticking with iOS 6 for another year.
The iPhone 3GS that I use as a remote control to play music in my home will stick with iOS 6 forever, because it doesn't support iOS 7. Still works fine.

This developer would like to know the numbers for iOS 10. I can't drop 10 percent of users by dropping iOS 10 support. But I'd want to know how many users I drop by stopping iOS 9 support. I'd also love to know how many users I lose by dropping 32 bit support.

We still run iOS10 on our iPad mini, because several of our kids' games are only 32 bit and will never be updated.

The ugly part is how iOS keeps bugging you about upgrading and you have to watch where you tap once that upgrade popup intrudes on your screen.

Let's be real, 99.9% of iOS users didn't watch the keynote yesterday and had ZERO clue the update added such, now will they know when they install the update. They won't find out until they go to use their emojis and find some new ones in with the hundreds of others.

Actual the new emojis were the reason I updated to iOS 12.1. Call it a gimmick or anything but a lot of people use iMessage and the first thing they'll notice that has changed are the new emojis that are available. I for one is super excited about this!!

Right. Remember Apple’s update system is this clandestine operation to sell you new hardware by subtle deliberate and malicious slow downs of your perfectly oprational phone. Unless you’re part of the tech illuminati can’t practically avoid them because you can’t disable the notications and nags and auto-downloads. You can ignore and delete the download, but not stop the notifications or hide the badge. And now unless you disable it they automate the install.

All those sheeple will just end up with crippled 5S phones and will be locked on iOS 12 when Apple stops supporting what will be a 6 year old phone next year. And if Apple continues support with iOS 13 for a 7th year it will only get worse. Just compair an iOS 7 iPhone 5S to one running iOS 12. Apple’s support is the worst. A total charade.
Do you have any kind of data to suggest iOS 12 runs worse than iOS 7 on iPhone 5s's? You complain that Apple is going to stop updating support for the 5s (which seems reasonable considering it is a 5 year old device..), but then in the next sentence you say if they do support the 5s with iOS 13 that it will be worse? What do you want them to do? Damned if they do, damned if they don't...

Wow iOS 6, I'm impressed. I'm also part of the 11% because my phone is older than 4 years. I'm sticking with iOS 10 because I have 32 bit apps that I love. They've been abandoned by the authors and I can't find free equivalents. So until the phone dies, no more updates!

I won't update until they release 12.1.1

Yes I have trust issues since iOS 11 eff'd up my phone and I lost countless photos! It will take a long time for Apple to win that trust back, if ever.

Well from iOS 11 no (besides the stupid new FaceTime interface and photos picker in Messages), but iOS 10 is still faster for many devices.
12.1.1 fixes the idiotic FaceTime interface. iOS 10 is faster isn’t a blanket true statement; not to mention the vulnerabilities that have been fixed.

My iPhone 7 continues to run 10.3.3 just fine; the device does everything I ask of it, the battery lasts all day under medium to heavy use and my emoji selection is more plentiful than I'll ever need.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Of course, I wouldn't mind if that unrequested "system upgrade of the day" installer didn't auto download so often, but it's not that big of a deal. Just a couple clicks and it's deleted.

iPhone 5s devices are crippled on iOS 12?
Well, of course they are. I mean planned obsolesce doesn't work if iOS 12 doesn't lock them into a terrible final version. Why give consumers any reason to put off new hardware purchase. Apple could have just cut support at iOS 11 for the iPhone 5S. But, they didn't so it has to be part of some very intricately orchestrated charade to drive hardware sales among the sheeple. Or have we abandon planned obsolescence because it isn't convenient right now?

For the iPhone 5S, iOS 12 is the coup de grâce. Just like iOS 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 before they respectively killed off the OG iPhone though the iPhone 5 / 5c hardware. If it isn't - then Apple needs to cut out all the upgrade nags, notifications, as well us bring back 32-bit app support, and unlock the hardware to run iOS 7 again.

Don’t think the upgrade nags will ever be cut out. Hopefully they’ll be less in your face.
