I have a bug, If I try to create a new passcode for FaceID, the passcode wont sync, exit the app and I got a new notification on settings that tells me "Confirm iPhone Passcode" and then "Update Apple ID Settings" and it keeps asking the iPhone Passcode over and over again. o_O
Same here.

It works but you have to tinker with the mask a little to get the profile to take. I did it a few times and it went through. Now no matter if I wear a mask or not it works well.

Tried it again. No way. I'm on 13.4.5 beta 2. Fiddled with the mask to no end. The only way it works is if I pull the mask down slightly to expose my nose. If both nose and mouth are covered, no way, no how.

Nice touch to switch straight to passcode, however I think people aren't thinking about how they can just add two face profiles and still access their device with a mask on. Not saying everyone doesn't know this.. but it doesn't seem like something even tech sites are sharing as a reminder.

But does that work if you wear different style facemasks?

and I can’t download the ipsw for iPhone nor can I download the macOS beta. Both seem to get stuck. Must be a link issue with Apple servers and us in Canada.
Confirmed. Speed test has a free built in VPN and as soon as I enabled it the download started

Nice. I'll give it another try.

On another site, I saw that if you cover half of your face with the mask and did the alternate, then did it again covering the other half of your face, Face ID did work with the mask. Haven't tried it myself yet...

Uh yeah. Having to jump through that many hoops and then end up with inconsistent results is not my idea of fun. Apple needs to rework the Face ID algorithm to use the top third of the face. I'm sure a trillion dollar company should be able to find a workable and secure enough solution.

I'll bet at one of their virtual meetings, somebody at Apple must have asked "why did we dump Touch ID again?" :)

I deliver mail so I’m frequently changing my gloves and my masks. FaceID and TouchID still wouldn’t work for me.

That isn’t going to happen. One of the big advantages to FaceID over TouchID is the much greater security afforded by the larger range of datapoints necessary to authenticate into the system. There is a lot less variety in foreheads than in faces as a whole. Thus, there is a much greater chance of spoofing the system. Apple is not going to bet the farm simply to accommodate what is hopefully a short term phenomenon with face mask usage.

I figured it out, you have to sign out iCloud and sign in again, next it will ask you to do the same but this time will work.

If that were a viable solution, Apple would have suggested it to people already. It is good that any covering on the face results in passcode screen - it feels more secure and safer that way. Any attempt to try and work around it is just a hack that lowers security for you.

Has anyone else encountered the bug where you’re in iMessage, you attach a photo and hit send real quick after attaching, and the message refuses to send? The only fix is to go back into the list of all conversations, then tap back into the message, re-select the photo, wait a second, and then tap send.

It’s almost as if the photo needs a second to process, and iMessage hits a bug if you try and send it too quick.

Having this same issue. I changed my alphanumeric passcode to a 6 digit passcode because I'm using a mask all the time and that's easier to type that my long password. I did it after installing iOS 13.5 Developer Beta 3, like you. "Update Apple ID Settings" is stuck for me, but the "Confirm Passcode" one cleared successfully for me.

I tried signing out once but it didn't fix it and haven't tried again. Have you gotten anything to work?

EDIT: Tried 2 more times. I guess third time's the charm. Well that's not entirely true, I got an error that lead me to my issue. The system thought my iMessage Apple ID and my iCloud Apple ID were different (they were the same) so I signed out of my Apple ID inside the Messages settings and signed back in, and the alert went away.
