So why doesn't apple allow downgrading at a store

Edit: I guess they make more money replacing batteries
Rather refusing to replace batteries in my experience even if I wanted to pay they always say well your battery does not need to be changed.

My iPhone 6S on 14.2 is running just fine. No battery life problems of any kind *knocks on wood*
My iPad 6th gen however (basically an iPhone 7 with a larger screen)... Can only get 7~8 hours of screen on time (used to get 9~10)

My original SE has this problem. I don’t use it as a phone. I use it as an iPod. I have most every service turned off since I just use it for podcasts and music. It can barely last the day on a charge even if I don’t use it at all.

Ever since I upgraded to 14.2 on my iPad Pro 10.5, the battery has been a nightmare. It was fine before that. Now I have to keep it plugged in while I use it. I even reformatted it from scratch and still have same issue. Hopefully fixed in next update. My 11 pro phone is fine though.

Sounds more like OS than hardware from the reports. Apple's background processes and "security" are increasingly intrusive on all their OS. That would explain the lagginess too.

I'm really loving my samsung S20 Ultra 5G at this point
and yes I do also have an iPhone 12 Max.

I'm on an X with 14.2 and have absolutely no problem with the battery drainage.
Ditto. My 12PM consistently lasts between 36 - 42 hours on a charge before it hits 20%. I don't live on my phone, or use FB, Twitter or other types of social media so that probably helps. Presently, my 12PM came off the charger at 4:00pm Saturday, and at 1:40pm Sunday it has 64% charge remaining. Since people with the same phones and the same OS version appear to be having vastly different experiences with battery life, I suspect there may be more to it than the version of OS. Some software can be huge battery drains.

My iPhone X (96% battery health) is running terribly, and the battery is shot in 2-3 hours since upgrading to 14.2. However my 12 Pro Max is not effected.

Glad to know it's not the battery on the iPhone X. And yes, no issues with the iPhone 12 Pro.

Hell ya. My SE couldn't last an hour once I did app updates and little use. Even sitting on my desk overnight it would be dead before I woke up. I had to stop using it and bring out my wife's old 8 Plus to use. So far so good even though that phone battery is like at 80% health. Still lasts a day compared to the SE with it's small battery and iOS 14.2 killing it. Thanks Apple. Still not buying a new iphone.

That sounds really frustrating. The original 14.2 update did that to my 12 mini; I'd lose half my charge with the phone just sitting in my pocket. But the .1 update fixed that; my battery life is terrific now. So hopefully the next update will take care of the problem for others.

I don’t think my 2018 iPad pro has had any issues. However, my iPhone 7 Plus takes a good while to charge using the usb c to lightning cable and the 20watt Apple charger. It also seems to lose too much power just sitting overnight.

You completely misread and misinterpreted his post. He didn’t say what you saw. You need to read his post again.
I did not misread anything. He's saying what others tend to regurgitate over and over that they don't want people without problems to post saying they are not having issues. It's very important that they do.

Happening on my son’s OG SE. Feels warm all the time and drops from 100% to 0% in a few hours on 14.2

I’m on 14.2.1 and have not had any issues personally. I’m on the 12 Pro Max.

...

The affected iPhones all appear to be slightly older, such as the iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6S, and first-generation iPhone SE. The 2018 iPad Pro running iPadOS 14.2 also seems to be affected.
There are no new reports suggesting that the battery issue was fixed in iOS 14.2.1...

It's like you didn't read the article or something...

Yep, new SE is wrecked. Not that it's anything new for Apple and "new" OSs. I just hope they fix it quickly.

I have an old IPhone 7 Plus that I use for utility (target camera for handgun laser pulse cartridge training, audio recording, etc) and have seen zero issues with the battery life after the upgrade. However this phone is only connected to Wi-Fi, perhaps there’s something different for phones connected to cellular.

Also, zero issues on my iPad 10.5 pro which only gets used for reading books.

Needless to say, no issues with my 2020 iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro. And I recently got 26 hours from my Apple Watch 6, with 16% power left. (I had forgotten to swap to my 5 when I went to bed the other day).
