And Microsoft offers a much longer support life for Windows than Apple does for macOS too.
Windows 7 came out in 2009. Extended support ended Jan. 14, 2020.
Windows 10 came out in 2015 and support is scheduled to end in 2025.
Download size depends on your system - mine was 2.2Gb on a late 2013 MacBook Pro - but even 3Gb is delta sized compared to the 12.6Gb full download size for Big Sur...Over 3GB again, sound like Apple forgot what a delta update is.
Well just updated and my CalDAV account ( to my on-prem nextcloud server) still works perfect both on mi iphone 12 oro and my 4th gen ipad air, so either you have bad luck, or I have good luck, anyway your experience is not universal and neither is mine, so something else must be at play here... btw not that it's any of my business but where are the accounts you have issues with hosted, the service might have issues? I've not tester CardDAV yet.The update on iOS and iPadOS broke my CalDAV and CardDAV accounts. The systems pop-ups for reentering passwords won’t accept them. Anyone experiencing the same?
Except I’m referring to the iOS updates…According to our friendly Internet:
Ergo, it might look like a small update, but it really isn't.
- Firmware updates are only provided as part of a macOS update, and Apple deems it necessary for every macOS update to include a complete set of current firmware for Intel models. This contributes around 600 MB to every update, perhaps more now to cater for T2 and M1 models too.
- The dyld cache, nine files occupying about 4 GB when compressed in /System/Library/dyld, which contains a dynamic linker cache of all the system-provided libraries. These fall within the SSV, and appear to have to be freshly provided in every macOS update.
- Full support for both Intel and ARM-native code, with the exception of Rosetta 2, which only resides on the Data volume of Apple Silicon models and is managed separately.
Yeah I thought 14.7.1 was obvious with just the iPhone and Watch TouchID issue. I even told my mom "wait a week before you update" just so she doesn't have to endure the process twice in 10 days (or whatever it was).If I remember right someone disliked my comment that Apple was going to release 14.7.1 soon to fix this. Ha!![]()

And exactly what is a "Real Mac User?" and who is this population you are referring too? Trust me, there is no the grass is greener on the other side when it comes to Windows and Macs.I spent last night watching some Windows-focused videos on YouTube, talking about how Windows continues to "beat Apple and Google". It's shocking to realize that there's a whole population out there that has no idea what it's like to be a true Mac user. But then there are moments like this that make us realize that Apple is still a baby in the computer security department, largely because of their proactive approach of designing secure-first, so actual serious vulnerabilities are few and far between.
It was patched quickly after it became public. We don't know how long Pegasus was doing its thing before it became public.Good to see this was patched so quickly.

My service provider uses Imunify360 to detect unusual traffic and somehow my IP was blocked. Everything is smooth again now after fixing this. Phew!Well just updated and my CalDAV account ( to my on-prem nextcloud server) still works perfect both on mi iphone 12 oro and my 4th gen ipad air, so either you have bad luck, or I have good luck, anyway your experience is not universal and neither is mine, so something else must be at play here... btw not that it's any of my business but where are the accounts you have issues with hosted, the service might have issues? Microsoft actually update Windows very often, sometimes even too often for some people. The Windows Defender definition gets daily updates even.Another reason why to use a mac....this one...updates every few months...to improve your device, not to crack it like my win10 device
So… jailbreak? Or is this unofficially confirmed to be Pegasus we think?Apple says that an application may have been able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges due to a memory corruption issue. "Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited," reads the document.
Sure Windows always has updates...love, hate relationship with that.Microsoft actually update Windows very often, sometimes even too often for some people. The Windows Defender definition gets daily updates even.
maybe it should be on?I still don't understand why every time I update iOS, it turns my Wi-Fi on.
Ahh yea those 2 issues might certainly cause problems, and I would nor have been hit by either, so thanks for telling meMy service provider uses Imunify360 to detect unusual traffic and somehow my IP was blocked. Everything is smooth again now after fixing this. Phew!
Anyway, I actually found a bug similar to the “@“ Wi-Fi bug: Usernames containing “@“ in custom CalDAV accounts will display “%40” instead of “@“ in the Account label when one clicks on that account in Settings -> Calendar -> Accounts.
I updated my iPhone to this new version of iOS and it seems even more buggy than before now. So what was your point again?Another reason why to use a mac....this one...updates every few months...to improve your device, not to crack it like my win10 device
