iOS 14 Beta 4

Release Date ―
August 4, 2020
Build Number ― 18A5342e
Darwin Kernel Version ― 20.0.0: Mon Jul 27 02:45:29 PDT 2020; root:xnu-7195.0.8.0.1~21

iOS 14 Beta 4 Release Notes

New Features & Changes

  • Apple TV widget now available in this build
  • Exposure Notifications dedicated menu in Settings (also functionality re-enabled)
  • New 2x2 widget for shortcuts
New Issues
  • After upgrading, playlists synced to iPadOS devices are gone. Playlists synced to iOS devices are still present. This only happens to non-Apple music subscriber.
  • “Show Apple Music” toggle no longer works for non-Apple Music subscriber on iOS devices. Still works on iPadOS devices.
  • Attachments from files.app not working with iMessage
  • YouTube app on iPad loses a lot of feeds and recommendations except Breaking news and Mix. Youtube on Safari often throws error during playback or attempt to start Playing a video. Reinstalling YouTube app does not fix the Youtube app problem.
  • Instagram app crashes frequently
  • Keyboard disappears more often than previous betas
  • Receiving phone call with AirPods Pro connected is not possible. Specifically, receiver cant hear caller’s voice and vice versa.
  • After charging on wireless charger sometimes the phone slows down significantly and may not sound the alarms.
  • Artwork embedded into songs using iTunes may not be displayed properly, especially when artwork files are PNG and TIFF, even if the file size is less than 10MB.
Remaining Issues
  • Clock widget not updating/time incorrect compared to clock app icon
  • Share sheet shows blank photos for suggested contacts from apps like Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger
  • Shortcuts app unable to create QR codes
  • Shortcuts app fails to activate Airplay 2 (e.g. Sonos) devices when activated in Siri
  • Favourites widget is missing (could be by design)
  • Refreshing App Store updates after updating apps causes the refresh to hang
  • iTunes Store Genius page layout broken
  • Shortcuts app unable to turn WiFi off. ( „Could not run set Wi-Fi - there was a problem communicating with the app“ )
Resolved Issues
  • 3D Touch Restored
  • Weather widget updates to match Weather app

It will likely be later today, or tomorrow. For iOS 14, it has been posted the next day so far.

Thanks! I had a Dev profile for Beta 1&2 but then switched over for 3. I figured that was best since some stuff was going down with the beta profile website that I got it from.

My DB4 was labelled correctly on my iPad, but as PB4 on my iPhone, same profile used on each though. The naming is still borked 🙄

Updating from any version, including previous iOS 14 betas, takes significantly longer (namely the "preparing" phase) than any previous version. Not a huge deal since the device is still usable during this phase but I hope it's something they can resolve at some point.

i can use the device while it’sdoing this phase

You and everybody else (you must have misread my post).

Aaaaaand we're back up. Looks like the Music widget issue that I never told anybody about has been resolved (song at the top never updating no matter what I played).

Not really a bug but kinda fun, so I post it here.

New iPhone 11 modem firmware, new AT&T carrier version, updated in first post.

Pokemon Go still crashes unfortunately.
