It was thought this was only an iPad issue , but iphone is also having the random icon and sometime widget changing sizes. Notice the Ford app and mail app are too large. On iPad some icons and widgets get too small. So far it seems related to either switching wallpapers or when only apples dark mode wallpapers kick in , I think. That seems to be the common consensus around the web.

Seems like nearly everyone will start seeing this soon enough.

Some of my icons do appear to be slightly smaller or larger but it’s such a minor difference that I can’t tell if it’s just the color or the actual size. Either way I don’t care. Maybe Apple is giving devs some flexibility within a half a millimeter or so 😂

I am seeing this on both of my iPads (mini 5 and Pro 12.9). A handful of icons become very small while all others remain normal size. The problem is still there after installing iPad OS 14.2. A force restart works temporarily. I also found that moving the small icons around seems to correct the problem temporarily. I am surprised we are not getting more reports of this bug.

I experienced this initially when updated the iPadOS 14 on my iPad Pro 11” 2020.
Restarted the iPad few times, now the issue seems to be gone.

Restarting multiple times seems to have helped so far. Here is a screen shot of the problem

The size differences on my iPads (mini 5 and Pro 9.7") is very noticeable. I only encounter this issue after changing Wallpapers. A restart of the iPads resolves the issue for me. I haven't noticed any issues with this on my iPhone XR.

BTW, I submitted a bug report on this to Apple.

All of my icons are smaller on iOS 14. I compared it to another phone on iOS 13 and the difference is slight, but there. I thought I was seeing things. But no. Also, if you open a folder of apps on the home page, the shape of the folder is different.

Someone mentioned on another thread that the issue can be reproduced by changing wallpapers. Tried this on my iPad Mini 5 and sure enough a handful of icons became very small. A restart corrected the problem.

Same here - iPad Air 3. Glad to see this thread, I was beginning to think I was the only one seeing this.

This has been a random issue throughout the beta cycle, there's a few conversations about it.

Feed back to Apple, report it.

Before I try doing a wipe and fresh install, is anyone else seeing this issue where some apps on the Home Screen or folders resize themselves?
It’s usually random and a restart fixes all of them. But over time different ones become small again.

This is exactly what I am seeing. There are a couple of threads in this forum about this issue. It may have something to do with changing wallpapers as well as some other actions.

Seems like many have reported it in the past and it’s not fixed.....it’s very easy to reproduce. Change your wallpaper, icons change size instantly.

I have this problem on my iPad, but not my iPhone. Restarting resolves it temporarily and it didn’t start when changing wallpapers for me. As soon as iPadOS was done installing, I noticed it.

Obviously, as it's cosmetic, it's not as high a priority as some other issues. I reported it too, BTW. It will get fixed, just have to be patient, if already reported.

Agreed, but it just shows a lack of fit and finish ....and to be honest such a silly thing.

I guess technically this was a better rollout than last year, including bricked homepods last winter

There's lots of niggly things. Suspect it was due to the need to get it out for the watches last week. 14.1/14.2 is going to be the true 14.0 with these things ironed out (well mostly, no release is perfect).

Yeah at $1.85T market cap they find it difficult to hire an extra resource or two to bug fix before release. Says nobody.
