Anyone else notice this? Leave it to Apple to undermine the battery life of the XR with a new IOS update. One of the selling points for the XR was the great battery life. Hopefully they will address this problem.

Battery life on my iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 14 has been absolutely stunning, I cannot complain at all, it lasts all day and have plenty juice left when I go to bed as I did in iOS 13.
My XS Max actually seems to have noticeably improved battery life since the update, which is a first to be honest.
It did a number on my SE2020, which already has a shorter battery life. I could actually watch the battery drop by 1-2% just sitting there. I did the 14.1 update, and all is well.
Fast charging has a tendency to heat up your phone all along, so I don’t think this is a phenomenon new to iOS 14.
Thanks for clarifying, never fast-charged before so was curious when the upper backside got pretty warm. I noticed it also doesn't stop at 80% for a couple of hours anymore before reaching 100%.
Updating to iOS 14 made my battery pretty bad, until I reset settings. Now battery life seems better than iOS 13.
What settings did you reset and what did it delete? I really cant afford to lose network settings at the moment. But anything helps
I did “Reset All Settings”. I signed out of iCloud before doing so, so logging back in after just restored wifi settings from Keychain. Some things that were reset: Apple Pay, notification preferences, Face ID, location settings, etc.
Considering this doesn't really seem to be widespread and is more or less what typically seems to happen with any major version update for different devices and people, it's hard to say what it would really be like for someone's particular case pretty much no matter when they upgrade to the next major version.
I really feel Apple should have put a bigger battery in the SE, 2500mAh minimum!
Sorry if I have asked this before, but do you have Background App Refresh turned off? Also is Siri busy listening in the background? I think those features could cost battery life on the SE.
iOS 14 has not raised any battery issues so far. It is a very common issue which might happen due to short battery life.
iOS 14 sapped the battery life of my iPhone 7. I did some searching on Youtue and found a couple of videos by the same guys that seem to have resolved the problem. It entails turning off a few things that ios14 has automatically turned on..
Seems like these are fairly generic tips that for the most part have been around for quite a few years and iOS versions. Worth checking on all the various settings and perhaps adjusting them for those who haven't done that at some point recently, but for those who have gone through this before it doesn't seem like there's much there that would make much of a difference.
I think my point being that installing a new iOS can turn back on all the things you had previously turned off, so worth checking.
Battery life had become dismal on my IIP 2nd gen while on iOS 13. iOS 14 restored it to like-new performance. My iPhone XR an Mini 5, a little improvement, but not like the IIP. Overall very happy with iOS 14. I do fast charge all 3 devices with a 29W charging block. Charges super fast. The XR and Mini heat up a little.
