And let me guess... still no password/PIN/FaceID for accessing the Photos specifically? All this focus on our privacy and yet this glaring omission.
Thank you. I was really hoping they would finally implement this. What’s the point of a “hidden” folder when anyone with your phone can access it? You can lock an individual note in the Notes app, but you can’t lock a folder or access to pictures...

In the Mail app, if have set to not load images in emails, did they add a white list option like Gmail to load images of trusted contacts?

Can someone verify if I’m experiencing a bug or if Apple is finally allowing 4K videos in YouTube. It looks like 4K hdr videos. So far non hdr videos aren’t showing in 4K.
hope this stays.

So with the home screen you could essentially have all your apps in the App library and have your home screen free for widgets?

The point of that folder is to exclude the photos that are in it from being shown in camera roll when someone is just casually looking through some recent photos, or from memories that iOS puts together, and other similar features. It's not hidden in the sense of not being accessible, but in the sense that it's not part of what shows up in typical places where photos appear or are used.

Correct. Even better the ’Hidden’ folder is handily available on the new ipad Photos left hand menu 🙈

Very surprised and happy that iOS will support my iPad mini 4. That will be 6 years of support! Fantastic! I hate the display on the iPad mini 5.

I'm on iPhone X and I'm still seeing Weather Channel data. Is anyone else seeing Dark Sky?

Notes - With on-device intelligence, search in the Notes app is faster, ...

Well, if they would set the sort order of the search results on filename again (instead of the seemingly random sort order it has since iOS 10 or so), the search function would be useful again (at least for me). I stopped using Notes for this reason and changed to other apps for my notes.

I’d be happy if they’ve fixed all the Safari text field/editing bugs... or any bugs, frankly...

could anyone running on iOS 14 check the Home app to see if there are any options to sort video captures. I'd like to be able to filter based on people or animal events only, so I don't have to watch every car that goes by. I'm really hoping they implemented something.

Wish they’d add a way to stop reminding that an app is using location services...YES I KNOW

What about easily and quickly changing the file name in iOS 14? E.g. When I see a picture it would be much better if I can quickly and easily change the file name right there.

Change a file name wherever I see it.

Naming a file is also better for locating files in universal search.

The ability to see all information for a file when I swipe up in Photos app is a pressing need. Currently only location information is shown. This could also be a place where the file name can be changed.

I’m aware that’s why the folder is there. I should have been more clear in stating that the folder should have a way to lock access to it if one desired to. There’s no way to prevent access to pictures or anything in the Files app without acquiring a third party app. You would think Apple would have implemented something like this since they have the feature in the Notes app.

Nope

I have to say. I’ve started testing iOS 14 on a spare iPhone 6S and am quite impressed. Fast performance considering how old the device is, and not a single crashed app so far.
yep yep. Same here, with the 6s+

Has anyone figured out setting/changing the mail/browser defaults yet? Can't find anything.

I'm curious if the stock weather app will now send push notifications for severe weather, precipitation, etc.

I honestly haven't used the stock weather app in years since I had either Dark Sky or Carrot Weather installed. Maybe iOS 14 will change that.

In the U.S., there's also a chart with a minute-by-minute forecast of precipitation intensity, which appears to take advantage of functionality in Dark Sky, an app Apple recently purchased.
Is this not available in all regions currently supported by Dark Sky then?

Anyone know if they've finally put the ability to sync the Messages app to properly reflect what's in Messages? I.e, instead of having to delete Message chain after chain on your watch, when you delete the chain on your phone, it automatically reflects on the watch?

Can anyone tell me how you instigate the new search feature in iPadOS? They said you can access it from anywhere, what is the gesture? How does it work?

Photos Privacy - In iOS 14, when apps ask for access to your Photos app, you can give them access only to select photos rather than the entire Photo Library.

That what I am asking Apple for but for Contacts. I do not want to give access to contacts to any ..... Facebook owned app. If then only to selected little group.

Access to Contacts overall can already be controlled. The part about selective access, that part of it isn't there (although I guess the use case for that seems somewhat unusual, at least compared to selective access to some photos, for example).
