I'm confused on this too. With Auto Macro turned off, I don't see a way to shoot in Macro, like it turns the entire function OFF.
Someone tell me if I'm wrong but I believe, on 15.1 setting selecting the ultra wide camera and pointing your phone to something up close is identical to the macro mode.

IDK why they didn't make Macro a shooting mode to avoid the confusion.

CSAM yes or no?
It is not 100% clear to me.
How can a user be sure?
A link or other documentation would be helpful.

I think they now have the horsepower to do it, I just gave the example in a previous post of finding all motorcycle pictures on my iPhone. Apple said the CSPAN thing is on hold didn't they? Hopefully it is being totally dropped because it would be too easy to abuse etc - privacy and all that!

Here are some I found today!

Use Siri to "Find ______'s iPhone"

- Siri opens "Find My" and then automatically starts the pinging sound on the misplaced other iPhone. Awesome! Just discovered that tonight! Whether it's with 15.1 update or whatever, I am no sure, but it's just like how you'd want it to work - so Good Job Apple!

Search for "motorcycle" in Photo's (or anything you want)

Photo's have been indexed and it even knows what a motorcycle looks like. I realize Google has had this - but this did it without sending all my photo's to be processed off site on something like Google servers! All on the iPhone, I'm told! Awesome!

Scan your Vaccine QR code in Canada - adds vaccination stuff to wallet!

Works awesome. Now you can "Hey Siri, Show my vaccination record" and boom it's there. It works because every country should be using the "Smart" vaccine encrypted QR thing - Good job on making that actually work in Canada too! Now just have to figure out how to get the person checking it to not physically touch the phone :)
First two Siri Features have been around for at least 3 years now. Along with the Photo indexing....

One of the reasons I thought I was finding some new feature was that I happened to look at iPhoto - and it was saying it was going to do some scanning in the background - that was on a Mac with the new OS - Monterey. So I tried a few oddball searches and was pleasantly surprised - I tried "Fruit" and "Motorcycle" - very cool.

State residence isn't the only way to get a vaccination card in your iPhone wallet. It depends where you got the vaccination. Because I got vaccinated at Safeway I have a vaccination card in my wallet even though my state government app doesn't support it yet.

I looked into it briefly and was pleasantly surprised (For once), that Canada seems to have also gone with the "SMART" protocol or whatever. In USA each state has their own choices to make as to whether they use it? I should mention that I'm oblivious to any controversy over vaccination records or "passports" - not interested either.

I got vaxxed in USA, properly on schedule, and got paper recipe cards, but no QR codes - but maybe they now they would have the QR code thing. Anyway - in Canada we submitted our info and they verify it and add it to your Canadian records, and then we got a QR code from our province with all the details and voila! Today it's in my iPhone "Wallet" app and even easier to use than the government app.

No actually my device had very bad scrolling stutter which i returned to apple. Just curious to know if update fixes it

I'd let it go for a few days - maybe it's just crunching through some background stuff because of the OS or something.

You know what - I did have some safari problems of websites not loading properly - like blank screen stuff recently. Probably unrelated, but not sure actually. But So far with 15.1 everything truly is better.

Yup that feature has been around for ages and ages now :) It does the scans per device for privacy reasons.

Did they fix the storage bug? It showed that you used more space on your iPhone than you actually did (I think).

I waited for 10 days to fix , but at the end not resolved so i decided to return it back and get a new one .

How do you add vaccination status to the wallet app? I don't see an option (only apply for an Apple Card, add debit/credit card, and add a transit card).
I am in a state where I can download the driver license app to my phone. And download my Covid vax status to that app. So I did that. And from that app. It had an option to share it to my health app.

One other bug fixed is that the Apple TV Keyboard setting was put back in Settings | Notifications. Thus allowing one to shut off those notifications (as you could do in iOS/iPadOS 14.x).

As far as Vaccine Cards in the Wallet App goes, it is hardly a feature when it is available in only a few states. The vast majority of people won’t have this.
You think so small, do you think the iphone is sold only in US? :))

Just my input on getting the vax card in apple wallet. I received mine at "the Walmart" here in TN. My state doesn't support SmartCards, they barely take covid standards seriously. Anyway....
For those having issues getting the barcode to scan from paper, this is what I did to get it in Health/Wallet. I logged in to my account with Walmart Pharmacy and tried scanning the barcode. Would not add to Health. I then just took a screenshot from my phone, and it picked up the barcode in the photos app just fine and added it that way. Give it a shot and see if it works for you.

My work Exchange calendar is HOSED by this update. All my calendar entries have the wrong meeting names and colors of other calendars when looking at the calendar view. If I open the item it has the correct data.

I have even removed and readded the account. Same issue.

Has anyone else who is in a state with MyIR for COVID-19 vaccination records (AZ, DC, LA, MD, MS, ND, PR, WA, WV) had issues adding your record into the Apple Health app/Wallet in iOS 15.1?
For some reason when I checked my documents on the MyIR site a few weeks ago, it showed me a verifiable QR code (SMART code), but now it seems to have been removed from the site. I had saved the old QR code from a few weeks ago, but scanning it doesn’t verify the results (it seems like the API is down)…

Nobody noticed they finally fixed the tabs colors in Safari on iPad? I can now better distinguish which one is the current selected tab.
