This looks absolutely horrible ?
Is this because of beta?
Not sure how you haven't noticed before, but it does this whenever the "search" or other back button is under the time. Has for ages.

Has Apple thought through the issues of someone dying abroad and the death certificate being issued by a foreign country? Indeed, will this work in all countries even without dying abroad issues added in?
Why wouldn’t it? They process billing and orders and account creation in virtually every language.

Only way to use this feature.. when you DIE!

I’m not sure if this is a good feature or not. Can’t tell if it will benefit or destroy the reputation of the deceased individual.
It’s not like it’s mandatory to use it. ?

If you die due to an accident, you'll probably be leaving a mess in your phone including dating apps, nudes lol and very personal chats that you might not want your Mother or your Sister scrolling through lol...
Loved ones aren’t going to give a **** to see some porn you liked or a nude selfie. Theyll simply delete it. If anything it might be them laugh during a horrible situation, you’re worried about being embarrassed after death? Humans are human. Other stuff such as family photos, important messages and notes will always be treasured for the rest of their lives. People like to make jokes about search history etc but the truth is your loved ones aren’t going to care. Your device has -nothing- on it about your loved ones? It’s strictly a pathway to your vices?

It’s a bit of a letdown that you can only designate one user for this right now. I picked my wife, but there’s a non-zero chance she could end up with me in the event of a car accident or something like that. I’d like to be able to add one of the kids or other family member as a second.

make the local authorities as the custodian just in case… :)

NOTE TO SELF: If your family is repeatedly asking you to enable "Legacy Contact" they may know something you don't know. It's either time to get your affairs in order or time to hide anything that may be used as a weapon.
Yup.

When my (now ex) wife was pressuring me to get life insurance that was my thinking as well.

Give her one more reason to off me? Oh, I don't think so! ?

This is so creepy.

Apple ID is always with you, "from cradle to grave".

Total digital human.

Hopefully will work good. I am preparing for my passing as that is getting closer and closer. I have however gave my wife and daughter all of my passwords to sites like this and as well as important sites like banking investments and medical records and credit card sites as well although I am slowly getting rid of store cards or credit cards that I use only a few times a year. As things start drawing to the end while I am still fairly lucid, more will go that will take some of the burden off of them. I will say this, for people here that I may have annoyed, I am sorry. For people that have more than helped me out, thank you for everything.

Who else thinks it is very nice of Apple to anticipate the incoming mass deaths? Global genocide? No worries, Apple's prepared.

Example of a comment you will never, ever see on any Android site....

Kudos and you're right, doesn't make sense this would be due to beta, probably some hacked together screenshots?

Because many things are launched by Apple in the USA, sometimes plus a few other countries, before slowly spreading across others.

Because Apple would need to recognise death certificates issued around the world but offered as proof elsewhere. Example, Chinese death certificate in Iceland.

With billing, etc., the language is largely a choice. With death certificates, you get what you get.

That literally makes no difference. They have stores in each of these locations. Interpreting or authenticating death certificates is not going to be an issue.

Been dying to get this feature.

Actually very pleased to see this. I have thought often of how many lose access. It is why I have my parents in my family account so I can get access if I need to ....that and it makes tech supporting their phones easier :D :D :D

Sure, they have stores in almost every country.

But, first, are they offering this everywhere? Right now?

If I fly off to the farthest region and die, can my partner submit the death certificate from that far off place to her local Apple store? Will they be able to handle it?

I don't understand so many negative comments: it is not mandatory to use this feature!

Personally I don't care about most digital data (SMS, notes, reminders...) but the photos are really important.

In the past, before smartphones, most people had a camera. And a lot of family's printed photos or slides, that will remain in a drawer and in most cases they are never lost (except if the house burning...), even 50 years later, even if some family members die.

But now most people DONT have camera, and all family photos are taken with a smartphone. In some cases, most of them with the SAME smartphone (because one family member has the one with the best camera). If they are lost, all is lost for husband/wife...children that will never have a photo of childhood.

And in my opinion, it is ALREADY a problem even if you don't die: most of people don't take care about password, don't take care about backup, don't use well cloud services. I suspect there is already a lot of people (technologically incompetent) that are crying 'This **** of technology! I was better in the past, with printed photos!' because they have lost all lifetime photos!

Unfortunately, technology is your best friend if you learn to use it well, but it is your worst enemy if you don't spend some time to master it...

BTW there are also other question that I had... what about not paying anymore the subscription (bank account blocked after death for e.g.) ? How many time to retrieve the data, before Apple delete the account and data?

Me I planned a different thing for my death: a safe-deposit box in my bank, with some detailed instruction, also some password to retrieve my data etc... but usually it could take month for heirs to access it, especially if they don't consider it a first priority (a notary is needed in Europe to open it, to estimate value inside to pay taxes, to identify heirs that have the right...) ... I wondering if meanwhile some paid account (no more payed...) and free too (that could be deleted because not used) could be lost forever anyway...
