Or you can just Apple Pay with the watch…If you use an Apple Watch to unlock your phone while wearing a mask then it means you can Apple Pay with the Watch, no need to remove your mask, regardless of iOS or iPhone version.

This. So much this.Or you can just Apple Pay with the watch…
Hacked?Ummmm.... my prediction is this will be hacked shortly.
It has been in previous betas and it worked perfectly fine. This is Apple pushing the newer phones which is some BS cause I DID have this at one point on my 11 Pro Max and I never once had an issue with it working at all.It is not clear why Apple has limited Face ID with a Mask to the iPhone 12 and newer, but there may be some differences in Face ID hardware over the years that allow it to work for some devices and not others in terms of reasonable security. It's also possible that Apple will expand Face ID with a Mask to older iPhones in future betas.
more likely they just want people on older hardware to upgrade.Yeah, hardware / silicon limitations. How could Apple even dare to do such a thing?![]()
Okay, if that were true, then why does Apple have by far the best post-purchase software support and upgrades of any major electronics company? They don't really have to support their older devices, but they do.more likely they just want people on older hardware to upgrade.
Apple Pay with an Apple Watch is easiest by far.Apple Pay + TouchID is the ultimate and works the best.
I'm so tired of this trope. I believe Apple does a great job keeping older hardware up to snuff. My partner is still happily using her SE 2016, on iOS 15. Though they really fell down on the messaging (in a very consumer-unfriendly way), implementing the performance limitations when the phone sensed battery degradation was a great move to get more life out of older phones.more likely they just want people on older hardware to upgrade.
I disagree strongly with this. Well, not with the Apple Pay with the Watch, that's certainly much easier than Apple Pay with Face ID, even with the mask taken out of the equation. But I found Touch ID (and a home button) to be a superior user experience to Face ID in nearly every way.Apple Pay with an Apple Watch is easiest by far.
When compared to FaceID, TouchID is so backwards in virtually every way.
There is definitely an adjustment period, but after using it since the iPhone X came out, I've not looked back at all. I'm in Scotland so it's pretty cold and wet here, fumbling around with gloves is a thing of the past and I don't need to worry about rain or sweat on the sensor.I disagree strongly with this. Don’t worry, we have have plenty of time to use it.…Only 2 years late, we locked down in January 2020.
I’m not sure you can say it has less info. Seems like it has more.I’m wondering if this dilutes security by having less info to scan
It's funny you could point out things that I would point out, and we would have opposite reactions! Takes all types, right? There is definitely an adjustment period, but after using it since the iPhone X came out, I've not looked back at all. To me, a button and TouchID just feel very "manual". FaceID is pretty much transparent, and the swipe gestures are (to me) faster, and require less precision.
How? Your face is covered that’s less facial infoI’m not sure you can say it has less info. Seems like it has more.
Sit back and watch as jailbreak developers release a tweak to enable this function for all FaceID devices, for free.Yeah, hardware / silicon limitations. How could Apple even dare to do such a thing?![]()
